mushrooms becoming bendable due to improper storage

I am sad to say I did not store my mushrooms properly. It got really hot and humid where I was living this summer and I should have put them in a glass jar instead of ziplocks. After a month or so in this weather they became bendable again.
They dont smell rotten so I am assuming they are still safe to eat. SHould I just redry them with a fan and put them in glass jar this time?

Just put them in the freezer before they rot, the psilocybin will not degrade

I dont know if I want to store them in the freezer because I live with housemates and don't want to take a chance of someone finding them or accidentally throwing them out.

If it is still pretty humid out fan drying may not get them dry enough. Dry them out real good with a dehydrator, or put them in a desiccant chamber until they are cracker dry. Then store them in a bag in tightly sealed jar with a little desiccant inside to absorb any ambient moisture. Your desiccant chamber can be as simple as a DampRid canister inside a one gallon ziplock bag -- no need to get too fancy if you go that route.
If your mushrooms don't smell rotten and they don't have mold growing on them they are probably fine, but the may have lost some potency.

Go get some damp-rid or another desiccant but damp-rid is probably easiest to source. Put a small cup of it in a bigger bowl with the shrooms then seal the bowl
-------------------- The mushroom speaks: '"I am old, older than thought in your species, which is itself fifty times older than your history. Though I have been on earth for ages I am from the stars. My home is no one planet, for many worlds scattered through the shining disc of the galaxy have conditions which allow my spores an opportunity for life... How the hypercommunication mode operates is a secret which will not be lightly given to man. But the means should be obvious: it is the occurrence of psilocybin and psilocin in the biosynthetic pathways of my living body that opens for me and my symbiots the vision screens to many worlds"

I am afraid that the damprid will get in my shrooms somehow and poison them. THats why I dont use desiccant.

Don't worry. The damprid cannisters are sealed by a coffee filter like material. Unless you puncture them and spill out the contents there is no way it will contaminate your shrooms. Besides, the stuff inside might be a little caustic, but it isn't really poisonous.
Just get one of these:

Or similar, they only cost a few dollars at Walmart, or Home Depot or wherever. I bet your mushrooms will go from bendable to cracker dry in 48hrs. I dry all my mushrooms on screens, and this method is how I finish the drying process before putting them up for storage.
*edit: you can make your own desiccant packets to put in the bottom of your jars for final storage by mixing epsom salts and baking soda in a 1:1 ratio and baking it in the oven at 350 F for an hour. Then put a few spoons full in a coffee filter, folding the filter up real tight, and stapling it so its contents don't spill out.

Ok, I guess I'll give it a try.

I've found several times that if they rehydrate a little and are left that way for a few days, they are gone, potency lost. They take on a little bit of an odd odor, not rotten or bad smelling but different, prob. some kind of bacteria.

Oh no, please don't tell me they are no good anymore. I put so much love into growing these mushrooms and harvested each individual mushroom with tender loving care. Effects- wise they have given me nothing but beauty and healing and aesthetically speaking, they are some of the most gorgeous specimans I have had the pleasure of laying eyes on.
I've had mushrooms get bendable on me before and while they may have lost some potency, I definitely dont remember them losing ALL potency. They also smell pretty much the same as before they came bendable. Just please tell me they are still usable we are talking about hundruds and hundreds of dollars worth of mushroom fungus. I am know I am idiot for not storing my boomers properly after expending so much time and energy growing them but I never thought they could lose all potenbcy this qick and id just move 'em to a secure storage location once my lease ended in August and I had to move anyway.
Worst case scenario I will have to trip on LSD for a time. Unacceptable.
Incidentally, I stored my LSD in the same place as my booms is it possible losed its ptotency as well? I since shifted it to my mom's basement.
