Thats a very good point but i think that being overly ego dependent also contributes.

Yeah I think those dudes, in that line of business, they all like to be in complete control. And you lose that control when on psychedelics.
I got a few friends growing up who weren't dealers -- but they had that personality where they always had to feel like they had some level of control in everything they did. And safe to say they didn't fair well at all with psychs. In fact for them the experiences were straight up nightmares.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say you hit the nail pretty square on the head there Niff.

Nope, not me. I'm curious as to who it could be if that special someone wanted to speak up. That's good to know though, the thought of someone stealing another's content and posting it on reddit was quite cringey.

I bet you a that the dude is in the hospital . Nut ward. Fun fact, Most places you can look up police records and 9/11 calls I bet the police report was at least entertaining.

You guys are the best. Keep on spreading the love and the light you crazy psychedelic giving wonderful psychonauts.
Look guys, my first time I had no idea what the real effects of psychedelics were (probably knew about as much as this homeless guy), and I just ate until I couldn't anymore (over 5 grams) and had a wonderful life changing trip. That homeless kid might turn around his whole life as the result of this. I know I did.
This is mushrooms we're talking about. At worst, he probably curled into a ball behind some bushes or on the ground or something and rode it out. And frankly, what's the worst that could happen: he's already homeless. It's not like things can get much worse for him.
Good job morrowasted and sheekle. Keep on doing your thing you crazy wonderful people you.

First I gave him 5 bucks because I dunno I was in such a good mood. He was thrilled. Then I circled back around and told him to walk over to the gas station. I pulled out a 5-6gram bag of mushrooms and held it up. He was like "WHAT? What is that?! Does it get you fucked up??" I said "it's shrooms. It makes you trip. You know, like acid, mushrooms, mescaline. Psychedelics." He didn't really seem to be following me. I told him if he ate half that bag he'd have a good time. He started eating them right there, which wasn't what I anticipated.
In hindsight I dont know if this was a good decision. Dude might've had mental problems, was probably totally unprepared for what was coming to him. But whatever, what's done is done. I asked him if he is over there a lot and he said yeah so I'm looking forward to talking to him again to see how it went.
A crusty kid would know wtf mushrooms were. This story is fake.

Maybe the kid just wasn't as crusty as op made you imagine.
Is it really that hard to believe someone doesn't know what shrooms are? Hell I've met like 20 ppl in my life who think shrooms are just mushrooms dipped in acid. these same people say they might be willing to try shrooms but would never even consider acid:

I've definitely heard of people being afraid of getting bunk shrooms dosed with acid, instead of getting actual shrooms. As if that's really a common occurrence when buying shrooms.
And the orange juice conspiracy rages on.

I think the thing is dry shrooms go great in liquid. It sort of brings them back to life. I like hot tea and mushrooms myself, but I think it is just soaking them in water that makes them hit harder.

Tonight I found him. As many of you indicated was likely, he was definitely mentally ill. He was also high on meth. When I found him the first time he was not high on meth and our (very brief) conversation was much more coherent- certainly not long enough for me to determine that he was mentally ill. I should have spent more time with him the first time around to determine that before giving him any drugs. It was difficult to get him to stop talking about vampires, and about he believed himself to be both a descendant of vampires and Vlad the Impaler. Not a reincarnation of Vlad the Impaler, mind you. I asked for clarification, and he said he believes that he IS Vlad the Impaler. His reasoning for believing this is that he once saw a depiction of Vlad the Impaler online and thought it resembled him. I asked him how long he had felt this way, in order to get an idea of whether or not I had inadvertently set off a psychotic episode by giving him mushrooms, and he said he has felt this way for a long time. It's impossible to know if he is telling the truth, but I get the impression based on the fact that he tells me has been panhandling and in and out of jail for years that he's probably been mentally ill for quite a while. It was obvious he had seen a great number of vampire-related movies as a child, and he would go into detailed descriptions about the differences between them.
In any case, I was finally able to get him to tell me a little about his experience with the mushrooms. He said essentially that it was "Cool, he saw like, transforming shapes and colors and stuff, and felt funny, and wandered around the city a bit." Suffice to say he didn't have any sort of revolutionary experience on the substance. In any case, based on what he was telling me about his everyday experience, it sounds every bit as if not more filled with intense and frightening hallucinations of all kinds as taking some mushrooms, which typically just distort your visual perception in predictable ways, ever could.
I have always fancied myself intelligent for theorizing about the dopamine pathways involved in schizophrenia from a distance, but it was very sad to see it in person. Especially when he talked about his family. He had brief moments of clarity and coherence where he said things that made me think, because of the way that they were phrased, "If this individual weren't completely insane, he might actually be quite intelligent".
Here is a picture we took together. He is the one who looks like a mentally ill person high on meth.
Here is one of the dozens of vampire-related images he had drawn. He clearly associated vampirism with sexuality in many of his images.
In any case, suffice to say, lesson learned. I won't be giving away any more drugs to panhandlers. The experience doesn't seem to have made him any worse for the wear, but it also seems to have been completely lost on him, and there are certainly many people for whom the experience might trigger psychotic episodes.
