I want to see how people vote. It's not intended to "bait" people amd thats not what I'm trying to do in this thread. The question is legitimate and I don't want people voting STAL. I want a clear split.
I think the clarity of the question is muddied by the "#" character. Do I believe that the lives of black people matter? Or is (Twitter hashtag that is the name of a social movement) a belief of mine?

You could say the same for any kind of large gathering... riots after sportsball games, for example, and I'm sure people have been killed at sportsball games. Would you blame major-league sportsball for these adverse events, or would you just accept that large crowds of people are inherently dangerous and unpredictable?
Maybe. But it doesn't speak well for it being a "peaceful movement" if people are getting hurt because of their protests. Of course I don't blame the people who called for attention to the corruption and injustice. But I do blame the people who support and inflame riots. I blame the sports fans involved in a riot as much as I'd blame the people involved in BLM riots. But I do also believe that the condoning of violence to other teams, allowing people to threaten other sports fans and fan the flames of hatred and over defensiveness should take a good hard look at what they're doing.
Of course these people have a right to be angry. But it seems the direction of their anger is very astray as a whole. This, at some level, helps condone violence. We had a good long thread full of people that were quite okay with police being shot just because their culture encourages them to mistrust and hate police.
Without a proper platform and a well determined list of demands BLM has about as much organization as a riot. It's outrage that has no direction and no fundamental cause. I've not seen one of these protests make demands that will bring about any change.
I and others might be more willing to get behind the movement if they wanted (or brought focus to) to change police justice and operations in a tangible sense and bring more reparations and opportunities to poor communities rather than protesting... racism?
Do you think MLK and the other leaders of the civil rights movement changed anything by demanding racism end?
No. They made it apparent that separate but equal was not equal and then demanded integration in all establishments, starting with government and public establishments. BLM stopped at that first part, the pointing out of injustices, and has done little since. Maybe if someone organized the movement a bit better, maybe if the people involved weren't tunnel-visioned by tragedy and emotions, maybe if they actually were fighting for change instead of just saying MAKE THINGS CHANGE then there would be alot more people that didn't feel it was a "racist movement." It rides on the back of raw emotion with no direction.
Any large scale operation supported by little but emotion is not a very stable one.

I wanted to see how many people on this forum would be willing to say that black lives don't matter because of their distaste for an activist hashtag.

How is that baiting? I didn't create this hyperpolarized political climate, I'm just acknowledging that it exists. I didn't want people voting STAL because it would defeat the purpose of asking a question in the first place: to get an answer.
Should everything we say here be completely baudlerized and inoffensive? I've been repeatedly told to suck it up when people bait me in here.

All lives, not just black lives, jeez guys!
If you think that those people that turned into those horrible things were once innocent children, and if you look at their life history, you will see abuse and neglect is present in their lives the majority of the time. This is why it's important to be a decent role model, parent, sibling, friend, etc.
So yes those people's lives do matter, they were more often than not raised by people that had devalued themselves due to poor parenting, so their role models continued the cycle of abuse, and helped create rapists, pedophiles, killers, etc.
Don't get me wrong, some people really do suffer from mental disorders and do horrible things because of them, but the majority of the time one should look for a pattern in those that prey on others, and this pattern almost always points to some abuse in the abusers life. That's not saying that those that prey on others shouldn't be held accountable for their actions, or that the people that aren't committing such acts should condone such behavior, but maybe we could learn from their mistakes by studying where they went wrong, so if you viewed it that way then yes their lives do matter, because you can learn and grow from their mistakes.
