Hey everyone.
I know as to not reinvent the wheel, but having done PF tek more than a handful of times, I decided to do a few things different recently.
If some of you regulars may recall, I recently got a small PC, and just did my first grains today. Gonna inoculate tomorrow.
Anyway, I recently spawned about 5 or 6 cakes to equal parts manure/Coir/Verm, Albino and KSSS. The KSSS has been going slowly, but is pinning now. I harvested my first Albino A+ yesterday, at 148 grams wet, 15.4 dry. Not too bad. Wish I had pics but hadn't had phone storage until now.
Anyway, the KSSS is pinning now. I thought I'd share what I'd been doing. I saw a tek a few weeks ago on a no hole monotub, using the light to create heat which in turn creates currents from openings of the lid, giving fresh air. I close at night. Open when I get up. Mist once in the evening before bed. Keep it simple. Closed.

Open.

KSSS pins coming in

Albino 2nd flush few pins coming in, some bruised pins from first flush around the clusters.

Here's something crazy I'm trying I had some KSSS cakes and manure coir Verm mix that busted out of my oven bag into the sink. I collected it all, put it in a large bowl, and let it colonize for shits and giggles. Looked a week and a half later, and it's fully colonized.
I decided to flip it, put it in a tiny monotub I made, I lined the bottom with half an inch of pure field capacity vermiculite, put three jar rings on top of that, and placed the extremely large, pinning cake, on top of the lids. Curious to how this turns out.
Let me know what you all think.

The giant cake is hilarious to me. Just curious as to why you would do this as opposed to lining the monotub with sub and colonizing/fruiting that instead. It seems like you would get a larger flush that way as opposed to doing a giant cake.
Why not do the giant cake in an SGFC, instead of a mono? Don't see a cake in a mono like that too often.
Also, I am a little curious as to why you would line the bottom with vermiculite, as opposed to something more airy, like perlite.
Whatever you're doing with it, I guess it seems to be working. Just curious is all.

I used what I had on hand. I could have crumbled and let it recolonize, but I was ready to fruit this. I've been ready to fruit the huge bowl/cake for a while.
Also, just using materials I had on hand. I tossed a sub from that tiny monotub, and got to thinking. Don't have any more perlite,so just did a little Verm to see if that holds moisture levels in the tub decently.
