Can I regularly add substrate to outdoor projects? Like a mycelial recycler

Like if I had a big flower pot filled with oyster myc and had small amounts of hydrated sawdust to add every couple days, would it just continuously keep colonizing new material?
I remember the "move it or lose it" rule but just how much do you need to move it before you lose it?
If possible one wonders if you could use such a system to recycle certain things. Could you just keep a flower pot in perpetual vegetative growth and use as a recycler you think? Suppose you would need to let spores happen at some point or senescence.

I wouldn't worry about the senescence

a good point, but that was naturally occurring, not spawned from an isolate.
Do I have a misconception here? I thought patches only got that large because new strains were being created after every fruiting.

It has begun, spawned some bacterial but mostly clean oyster grains to sawdust mixed with cig butts. put a layer of grass clippings on top to retain moisture.
Now we wait

Oysters will digest almost anything biodegradable. I used them to rot away a large tree stump and it worked very well. You could use them similar to how a vermicomposter is used by constantly adding fresh organic matter to it. Avoid anything oily or greasy though. You would get a lot better luck with this technique using a multi-spore generated spawn.

Very interesting application, using mycelium for stump removal, I love it. Do anything special or just plug/sawdust spawn?
And yeah I agree on the multi spore topic. Might give spore mass slurry a try or somethin.
