Ok. Would it be ok to remove the cakes to drill more holes or should I buy another tub? I hate wasting plastic.
You can do that. Just be gentle and try to be quick so they're not drying out too long in the open air. If you trust yourself, you can drill with them in, just don't drill your cakes. Make sure you've got an adequate number of holes in the lid to let air flow out through the top.
Here is what one properly drilled out looks like. Notice holes are on all six sides.

Well I feel dumb now! I didn't have any holes on my lid. I have them on the bottom and sides but completely neglected the lid. Don't know how I missed that! I really appreciate it. I'm off to drill some more holes right now.

So I drilled more holes on the sides and on the lid, tidied up the foil, and gave the cakes a good misting.
While placing the cakes back on the foil I noticed pins on the bottom of two cakes. (Neither of them were the cake I had placed directly on the perlite) Since these were the only pins on the cakes I turned them upside down so the pins were on the top. Is this the correct thing to do or should I have left the pins underneath the cakes??
Also I noticed some funky colors one had a bluish tint and the other kinda a rust color.

I've turned cakes many times. Basically it's just telling you your microclimate is better suited to growing on the bottom than the top, so you'll need to correct that in the future. But turning it over will be fine
The rust color looks like mycelium metabolites that have dried up a bit. Not an issue.

Thank you!! Hopefully with the changes I just made they will be happy campers and start to pin on top.

I don't know if I should make a new thread or not but I still need some wisdom and guidance from you kind folks.
I now have a few cakes with some pins. I've been misting and fanning 2-3x a day. I work 12 hour shifts so they have to go about 13 hours alone 3 days a week
When I came home from work there was more fuzz than usual on one cake and I just want you guys to please look at it. I'm sorry to have daily questions but I really do appreciate all your help.
