sometimes I was in the mental state that I really wanted a certain experience and ( in retrospective ) I was just sitting there and scanning all incoming scenes for that experience I was waiting for. That kinda killed the whole trip. It's like taking too much control in your subconscious mind.
This happened to me on 2 occasions so far when I'd taken about 3g. A week after one of those I took 1.5g and was just happy to get what was given to me and despite waiting only a week and taking a lower dose, the experience was much better.
Don't underestimate your expectations as they are a part of your mind set especially when taking low to moderate doses.
Just one more example: After a really intense trip that I considered too much for me I was doing shrooms again after a couple of month, only a moderate dose this time, but the come up freaked me out and I thought NO! I don't want this. and it felt like I went from the come up right into the come down.
So it is possible to suppress the effects mentally.....sometimes you just don't know that you are actually doing it.
Just be relaxed about it and go in with no expectations....being happy with what ever will be served, that might help
good luck

Wow ive never been able to supporess the effects like that. For me, the more I think "I dont want this" the more of a bad trip I start to get.
I used to live with a guy who tried to suppress his trips but he told me it never worked. I asked him why you even dose if youre going to try not to trip and he said he had a drug problem and just wanted to take the psychedelics for the euphoria while avoiding the spiritual/mind expanding effects. He tried to do this at least 5 or 6 times in the year I lived with him and every time he failed totally and ended up tripping out hard.

I'd think it's more likely that this issue you have is not a problem of psilocybin tolerance, but something else. It could be nutritional, or perhaps hormonal or enzymatic.
You should focus on nutrition first and foremost. In the US: 40% are Vitamin A, C, D & E, Calcium or Magnesium Deficient and 90% Don't Get Enough Choline, Fiber & Potassium. In Australia: 80%+ are Vitamin D deficient! Depressed patients in particular most often see improvements with supplementation of magnesium and EPA (omega 3) fatty acids.
So, get an EPA supplement and eat things like a cup of almonds a day (for e, calcium and magnesium) and sweet potato and greens (for A and C).
Are you stressed or sleeping badly? Try some ashwagandha and melatonin and get enough darkness/quiet at night, or rhodiola in the mornings with your cup of joe.
Try things that don't interfere (and might enhance) psychedelics, like bromantane and selegiline.
Meditate! Get in touch with your body's perceptions and do full body scans. Quieten environment, silence is healing.
Fast for 2-3 days, and let the starvation metabolism reset your body, then go somewhere new out in nature, do your mushrooms in a strange (but safe) environment to induce some novelty...
It's likely not the mushrooms that've lost the magic, but your brain is starved of something or other, be it certain nutrients, or perceptions.

Thank you for the awesome insight. I can confirm that I have been really struggling with insomnia as of late, I think it's maybe connected to stress, depression and anxiety. I think I'm also anxious as I'm not sleeping so it's a vicious circle. I will definitely look into taking a multi vitamin as I don't do that currently. I actually used to Ashwaghanda quite frequently and eventually I developed tolerance to it as well and it would no longer work anymore however that was about 6 months ago I stopped so maybe I can try it again. Melatonin doesn't do anything for me other than making me even more alert.
Do you know if Aswhwaghanda though interfers with your ability to trip as it's similar to benzodiazipenes in how they work?
Will definitely look into maybe starting to take fish oil pills again which take care of the EPA

If in doubt wait a couple weeks and also take a couple grams of syrian rue with them. You'll at least get the anti depressant benefits from the rue, and likely trip balls.
If I take the Rue I've heard you don't need to take as much Shrooms? If I want a normal 3.5 gram experience how many grams should I take with the Rue? Do you have any personal experience with Rue yourself?

^^^ Still no one out there who has experience long term tolerance that can help answer this question?? I know it's not just me I've read comments about it on this very forum so there has to be someone out there that has info and or can relate to what I'm experiencing?
I might also add that I did take a benzodiazepine for about 6 months or so to help with sleep but stopped 6 months ago and still can't seem to have a full on trip even after not tripping for 2 months.

Can't have a "full on trip" with 3.5 g or can't have one no matter the dosage? Don't fall for the mistaken idea that dosage is constant with cubes (or any other species), and don't think you have to do either 3.5 or 5 or 7 or some other arbitrary amount either. Cube effect goes exponentially with dosage so 7 isn't twice 3.5 it's more like 4 times as much. That's why you tweak dosage until you're happy.

I've dosed probably hundreds of times in my life and most of the time I've done 3.5 grams of cubes and the trip is pretty much consistent in terms of intensity. Then all of a sudden last year when I was doing them quite regularly they stopped working properly I would only get the partial visual aspect. The " Magic" feeling was lost no mind shift, no euphoria I could just tell it wasn't a proper trip. I would wait 2 weeks, still not working...then I'd wait a month still not working properly, then even up to 3 months and still not what would happen normally. It wasn't until I did 5 grams later in the year I had a full on trip but it was way crazier than a regular level 3 trip I was seeing abstract visuals(things which aren't even in our dimension) it wasn't like I had done 5 grams which got me up to a level 3 trip it was Level 4...although not as intense as my fantastical 7 gram level 4 trip from a month before.
That seems to be the problem I have to do so much to actually trip properly that I go overboard and have a more intense trip than I had planned on and is very personal and not one that can be shared with friends. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy these type of trips but once or twice a year max.
I'm starting to wonder if the benzo's I was on for a while has done something permanently to my brain that prevents the psilocybin working properly or if like I suspect there is some kind of long term tolerance happening here and I need to find out how long it lasts and how long I should wait before trying again...I WANT TO TRIP DAMN IT!!!
FYI I stopped taking benzo's back in February and even now my normal trips just don't seem to want to happen. And I've confirmed it's not due to potency issues as I've had friends try them and they had a blast and they worked properly as they used to always for me throughout the years.

Well be careful with that axe - ramp it up in smaller increments is what I'm sayin'.

I would also have you maybe check out the spiritual side of psilocybin. Maybe some Terence McKenna or alan watts. There are many different facets on going about the journey that you're taking sometimes you can't look at it at such an analytical State and make it just for experience maybe you have to tend to your spiritual side as well. I'm not sure which of the two has said this before but once you get it you shouldn't have to take it anymore.

my tolerance is almost all gone after 4 days
but you have an issue, you're doing what I call "chasing the high"
take a "standard" dose and accept what it gives you, strong trips will come when they come

I once was depressed and desided I would take a half gram to a gram of some powerful mushrooms prepared with lemon Tek every other night for a month and only noticed a slight tolerance

Its the weirdest thing! Completely the opposite of the general internet opinion. Like they say every person is a little different.
