First monotub . lack of FAE? Cobweb? Proper construction? Tips please
    #23515584 - 08/06/16 10:09 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys just wondering if anyone can tell if this is cobweb or not, and if not then normal or lack of FAE I'm worried I don't have my poly stuffed right, I've messed with it a few times in the last few days from super tight to slightly looser, my top holes the poly fill is just tight enough not to fall out now, and  I loosened the bottoms to where I can stick my finger in the middle as well. This is my first monotub and just being skeptical if I'm doing things right. How does it look?

Not cobweb.

Thanks for the link to the cobweb related issue I couldn't find a good one, I have read franks dial in your tub thread. And that is where I started, with poly as tight as I could get it in bottom and then upon re reading is when I loosened my top holes, my question then is why the fuzzy feet on the largest pin in my tub(  which was pinning before I moved from spawn bag to tub, and before you say anything I know spawn bags suck but it was a project started by someone else from one of those internet grow kit shitbags.) my rye jars are colonizing and my coif/manure is waiting to be pasturized for my first full size mono, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try out some mini monos  when I had fully colonized bags handed to me. So why the fuzzy feet? From everything I've read that means too much co2 not enough FAE which is why I loosend  the bottom holes which I originally stuffed as tight as I could.

Also I know that this isn't proper technique, but I cased after taking out of spawn bags and when I put them in tub"fruiting conditions"  by just pouring casing mix on top and gently patting down, 1/4 to 1/2 inch of it, is this still beneficial or is this a bad idea all together.

Fuzzy feet isn't necessarily from excess co2 but it is from the lack of fresh air.  It might seem like the same thing, but there is a slight difference.  The cure to both though is the same, loosen the polyfil a bit, and you'll get more FAE and less co2 build up near the substrate.

I've never seen a monotub produce fruits that didn't have at least some fuzz feet

Thanks guys, for fast input and good info. Il take these tubs as a learning experience and let them run their course. That way when my jars are done I can slap em in the full size mono with a little more confidence. I've done cakes for 2 years with only good  results a so I'm hoping to have a positive experience with these bulk grows so that I can get it all locked down and get a routine going.

This will probably be an uneven flush. The one that is all fuzzy isn't pinning yet but the other one is. Being that these few mushrooms are maturing before the rest of the pins should I pick them early or let them go. I've read mixed things about spores dropping causing the tub to stop producing. Is their any truth to that or should I let these go and pick them when the rest of the flush is done?

Id pick the ones ready before the spores drop.  Less risk contaminating future flushes.

yeah just pick them as they mature individually.

I wouldn't stress fuzzy feet, the real indicator of poor FAE is thin long stems. Most grows have some fuzz on the feet and it seems to be very genetics related how much a culture gets.

A thick layer of spores may hinder new pins but no need to stress over it just pick as they mature!
