A suggestion regarding pic uploads 1

I'm hoping that this is the right part of the forum for such a thing, if not I apologize and feel free to move it to a more appropriate forum.
I was thinking how comfortable it would be to have a multiple upload button where you select multiple photos all at once instead of having to go back to the upload page right after choosing your file. Most people here use their phones to upload pics, especially in the mush cult forum, so fiddling around with our sausages pressing all the wrong buttons can get annoying.
Maybe it could also be a subscriber feature, giving folks more reasons to subscribe. It seems that after the SSL connection went public, subscriber features are not as great as they were before, this would definitely help sweeten the pie.
Critique and support from other members is encouraged

We actually already allow multiple files to be selected at once, but the implementation is device-specific. On Windows, when you have the file selection box open, you can just hold the Ctrl key and click on multiple files to choose them. Android and iOS should support it, although when I did a quick test on my phone, it doesn't behave as expected. Chrome and Opera for Android will let you select multiple images if you're using a file-picker which supports it (eg. Photos from Google), but only the first file actually seems to register. Firefox for Android doesn't seem to pass the "ALLOW_MULTIPLE" flag when opening a file-picker so you can't select multiple images at all. I'm pretty sure these are all actual bugs, so they may get fixed in the future. I don't have an iOS device to test with, but apparently the functionality should be supported in mobile Safari.
Is there any particular web page that you feel does a really good job of handling uploads on mobile? If you give me a link I'll check it out and see if I can't steal some of their techniques.

Nah, I still always upload through the shroomery, it's not that bad actually, just makes me wanna bite my phone on occasion due to my ham size fingers.
I am using 2 android devices, my phone which is what I use for uploads most of the time and an android TV box which I use for browsing through the forum. I have a keyboard and a mouse connected to my TV box but even when I use the "ctrl" for multi-selection, it does not work. My browser is chrome. "ctrl" functions do work on my TV box, it's how I copy, paste, select-all etc. I just figured it hasn't been implemented yet because of that.
Is there anything else which might get it to work with android and chrome besides google images? I would have no problem transferring my photos to my TV box and uploading from there if so.
Good work on the site by the way, it's an honor to be here.

Hey, thanks! Glad you like it!
So I did some more digging and it looks like this simply isn't supported in Android versions before 5.0. If you're running Lollipop or newer, it should work with the Chrome browser. I'm still on Kitkat but I'll test this when my girlfriend wakes up and I can snag her phone. Which version(s) of Android are you running on your devices?
Oh, and one other thought: you probably already know this, and it may not actually save much time, but you can use one of the many compression apps for Android to create a ZIP file containing multiple pictures, and then just upload the ZIP. We'll automatically extract it and add all the images.

Oh shit, you are right. It does work with lollipop. Sorry about that, only got this phone a couple days ago and I didn't try it thinking it hasn't been implemented yet.
You are right, kit-kat (which is what I'm running on my TV box and also my previous phone) is not able to multi-select. Just did it with lollipop though so saul goodman. Neat.
Thanks for the help!
Edit:
Just in case anyone is wondering, the "documents" folder which allows you to upload pics from the gallery(it was just "gallery on kit-kat) is able to muli-select photos.

Nice to be able to multi-select right? I had to press like 3 buttons inbetween each photo on my new phone before I was told I could multi-select. Having drumsticks for fingers doesn't help
