States of ecstasy

I am interested in he cognitive and neurological causes of states of ecstasy. As I have 3 experiences and all with drugs. What makes a trip ecstasy and another a bad time? What exactly are states of ecstasy? No not some horny kids on pressed pills rubbing each other but visionary states accompanied or followed by ecstasy.
Anymore I want to experience states of ecstasy without drugs. I feel this would be a pot I could piss in. Although I use tobacco and have had major narcotic like ecstasy from mushrooms, tobacco and cannabis.
Have you had an experience were at some point before or after your ego stepped aside and he result at some point could only be described wih one word....Ecstasy?

Yeah, definitely - out in nature, like deep in the forest and out in the desert, both. Feeling part of something so raw and ancient and surreal... It is quite a powerful experience to get out and explore in scenic vistas. I probably do more physical activity than the average person, so your mileage may vary. Working up a sweat with a view like this gets me every time:

My last ecstasy was a pressed pill and not shrooms, weed or tobacco involved. Kicked ass and I wasn't there anymore than to remeber and experience a vision. There was fear it was too quick for a fight and struggle. I was swept into the vision of dragon people sitting around a table then they turned into human military guys. It was intense and sorta short like my second experience but much different.

It's Red Rock Canyon national park, out in Las Vegas.

Would love to go to Anza Borrego next time I'm on the West Coast.
To me, nature itself is so ecstatic. The mountains and desert and forest, especially. There's probably a reason the highest spiritual cultures spring from those areas. My friend once the described the Grand Canyon as a boundless display of sexual mathematics. If that's not ecstacy in a pure form, I don't know what is.

Indigenous peoples saw the landscape as literally alive and teeming with energy and spirit. Whenever I'm outdoors, I try to see things as they did (although of course this is probably impossible for a modern gringo). There could be no healthier way to see things.

I wish I could say that view made me want to work up a sweat over it..
..but what it really does is make me feel like I wanna tear over it at silly speeds on a 500cc 2stroke dirtbike, hoofing it over every mound I could find with my front wheel in the air...
To me, that would be absolute ecstasy. Yanno, given that I've been exposed the modern gringo way of life an all. As much as I wish there could be, I don't think there's any turning back now. Maybe a bit, but not completely.

this is a question really has fascinated me too. I start looking at the term itself, and for me the best definition I have discovered that suits my experience is realizing that it is meaning:
Quote:
“The ancient Greek ancestor of our word ecstasy is ekstasis, formed of ek (outside or beyond) and stasis (“standing, stature” or “standing still, stationariness” or “the place in which one stands or should stand, position, posture, station”)
So we can say ecstasy is a going beyond a state where you feel static, or standing still, or rigid, stuck, 'ordinary'
So then you ingest a psychedelic and soon POW!!!!! you are giggling, buzzing, you are seeing feeling matter, and nature as alive, breathing, flowing rippling. You feel unspeakably alive. You feel utterly connected with music, your feelings, and when/if you sing there is no sense of a 'subject' 'I' singing an 'object' 'song', but rather you and song are this erotic dynamic flowing creative movement that has taken you out of your usual ordinary sense of yourself where you may have chosen a familiar tune, and thought 'I can't sing!' and had sung it always the same way, lol. NOW it is a different feel completely, it is awesomely creative, living~~~. music itself, the very vibration as flowing through you and the air which vibrates, all is alive~~~ Ecstasy!

I do not know how to define ecstasy as there are variations. It appears to be the most euphoria without any struggle. There is no doubt that it is ecstasy when experienced due to it's shear strength.

yes it would be foolish to pin it down, or de-fine it. It is rather unfettered and wild
you feel abundant energy, and with this you feel very powerful, but also extraordiarily gentle. I have looked at clouds at dawn and felt I am seeing micro transformations which is such sensitive observation and feeling
I have heard that Tao chi and qigong were in part inspired by moving with slow moving clouds

Ecstasy seems to always be here in experience, but it's my thinking mind that gets in the way... When there is more stillness and clarity... I can't help but notice how fucking awesome this moment is... A continuous stream of awesome

Yes, I'm sorry. I often forget about this feature where you are supposed to select the poster you are replying to. I've seen it cause a lot of confusion over the years.

I agree with the examples and statements of what ecstasy is. But my last time it really kicked my ass and didn't feel recreational, which it never really does, but visionary. It is a rare experience and always special.
