Ok so last night I made some agar. Not sure but think I might have fucked that one up. I brought it to a boil because i thought it all needed to be fully desolved. It wasn't scorched or anything but I needed a for sure so I looked around. Pasty, I ended up on your thread. Simple. I still wonder though did I cook long enough. ts not super clear but u can see through. I used telephone brand agar, and potato flakes....is this normal. I will post pictures ASAP.

should be fine. i just made some MEA today, brought it to a boil and its fine. i usually bring my PDA, with the same agar you are using(telephone) to a near boil, and it's fine. when using that agar and potato flakes, i usually always have a tiny amount of "specs" in the agar. agar plates wont always be 100% transparent. they may be sorta slightly cloudy sometimes.

All jars turned out similar to this one. Looks like powder mildew or something. The other growth I'm getting looks flat and white. Sort of like spilled milk. I cant wait till I get some fuckin spores.

That is bacteria and mycelium in one nasty soup. You might be able to rescue some of the mycelium with an agar sandwich but I still can't say what species it is.

Thanx Pasty. So I'm going for the white puffs as opposed to flat milky stuff?? I didn't put up pic of the flat milky because it's hard to see unless I open jar.

The fuzzy stuff is mycelium. The milky shit is bacteria.

unknown strain found at River. posted in ID form, never got answer. This is the only thing that I've got not to have contaminants. This is around 12 15 days old.

Ok, so I successfully isolated the dried mushroom. I actually had to move so the jars I made ended up being I'm some pretty warm temps. I'd say one hundred plus temperatures (they were in a truck for a week). Anyway I go to put some of the things up and happen to pick up one of the jars, lo and behold it's fully colonized with a beautiful white mycelia, no contaminants. I do not know how old the jar is or if it's from my first attempts or if it was later attempts when I finally got a SAB and pressure cooker. Im just glad I was able to isolate as I really like this particular strain? Not sure that's the correct word to use. Anyway once I get this to fruit maybe someone will be able to identify it for me. I asked the grower and no name. I also finally got my spore print from fsre. Penis envy 6. Fsre is bad ass. Ill for sure be sending prints so others can get the same blessing I have. I've been practicing taking prints with Parasols Lactea that have been popping up here lately. I'd like to thank everyone who has stopped by and givin me pointers or insight so far. Y'all have been a big help. The following pics are of the isolated mycelia and the practice prints. Lots of more pics to go as things progress. Hope y'all enjoy. Again feel free to comment or ask any questions.

” To inoculate BRF with agar you don't have to drop a wedge and use GE lid, you can sterilize a syringe of water, squirt some water onto your culture and then agitate with the flame sterilized needle and suck the myc water up for a fast LI"
Does anyone not agree with this??
I want to try pastys straw tek with this.

Ok...well since I got no reply I went and bought Millet. I was (or maybe still will if I get some nay's to my question) going to do Kramer cakes. But I didn't have enough money for vermiculite... So....my question is can I invitro with just plain millet? I only need to get one mushroom from the clone so I can make a spore print. Be nice if I can get some knowledgeable help here. Things would go alot faster. If not I'll continue killing it anyway... Lol.

man, you just gotta find a different branch of stores, if you go to a health-food store its expensive as fuck, look for animal feed, no farmer is gonna pay 3 or 10$ a pound for his horse food, it'd ruin him.

one of the pp5. one got black mold...this is the other. no contaminants. I don't know if the black mold was because of prep or if I just haven't been sterile enough. I haven't gotten any gloves. no $. This is colonized hulled millet by itself. I'll be experimenting more with hulled millet but later on. I will be using wbs as soon as I get $ together as its been proven with lots of teks I can follow. Temps have been in lower 60s to 70 degrees.

I used that pp 5 and spawned to coir. The pic is 38 hrs after. Just plain coir heat treated with 180 degree water for bout an hour. Let cool then mixed spawn in. This is the isolate.
I also pced some more hulled millet (50 min., did it twice to same batch). this time I did not measure used about a third of water instead of half the amount of water. big pp 5 was nocked up with Penns Envy 6 ms. Small is the isolet.
Other pic is just some ropes mycelia that I thought looked cool.
last pic is the original agar I made which all other mycelia was taken from (isolate). it's all dried up. I transferred it to fresh agar yesterday.
