Is it just me or does papuana not look almost identical to caurulescens

It's no coincidence. They are similar. P.papuana has a dry cap though.

Gold capped Psilocybe species from the other day. I'm starting to think these are just a different coloured P.papuana. Smallest specimen in pic is down below.

First two images smallest specimen from photo above. As the cap goes hygrophanous it is looking more like a P.papuana specimen. Last image another P.papuana growing close by. Both look very similar.

All images same specimens. These were up where I picked the green cap P.papuana two days ago. There were about twenty dried out that I'd left from the other day when they looked quite young and fresh.

First two images are the first P.papuana specimen I found last year. Last two are the gold coloured one from today. I can see a similarity here.
I'm posting this because I just edited my MO observation to a "looks promising" for P.papuana rather than just Psilocybe sp. I sent the mushroom in the first two images to Inski for ID purposes for a P.papuana most likely ID.
Anyway time will tell. If the gold cap ones are P.papuana there sure is a vast spectrum of colours to the caps in that species. It's my favourite species now for a number of reasons.
