Show us your Trail Rig! * 1
    #23495322 - 07/31/16 11:46 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Alright I know I'm not the only one here into offroading and overlanding.  I want to see what you guys drive.  Here's my ride, she's a work in progress but I use her as a trail rig and a DD.

I'm currently working on building up my rig, which is a 2007 Nissan Xterra SE.

Removal of nerf bars and plastic mudflaps:

I used to own a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder w/ a 3.3l SOHC 160hp engine, the upgrade to the 4.0l DOHC 270hp engine made quite a difference when towing:

I hauled both of these along the same route from Reno to Portland, the Xterra's trailer is a double-axle and weighs roughly 800-1000lb more than the single axle, plus it's loaded with more stuff than the 5x8 the Pathfinder hauled and it still performed MUCH better.

Recently I ended up purchasing a new suspension kit for the truck, a proper suspension kit with RadFlo 2.0 extended coilovers, new UCAs, new leaf packs, the works.  This isn't installed yet but I'll be installing it in a few weeks.

Kit includes

RadFlo 2.0 Extended Coilovers w/ 650lb HD springs and a 1" top plate spacer- helps keep shocks from topping or bottoming out while keeping the shocks dialed down low for smoother ride.
SPC UCAs to prevent coil bucket contact and give more articulating range.
Bilstein 5100 rear shocks w/ a 2-2.5" additional (longer than stock) travel length.
Dakar/OME Heavy Duty leaf packs (I will need to put some weight in the back to help wiht how stiff these will be at first).
shims and new Ubolts
Camber bolt kit for proper alignment

I'll keep you guys informed on what's happening, but my next plans are:

Heavy duty front steel bumper w/ winch, and heavy duty steel rear bumper w/ tire carrier.
Front and rear ARB air lockers for the axles (in addition to some differential swaps, getting rid of my R180 and putting in an M226 and M205).
Titan Swap eventually (putting in Nissan Titan CVs, Lower control arms, proper upper control arms, etc.

*Bump*

What the hell, none of you own a truck or an SUV or a Jeep or something?  Come on guys, this ain't just a drug community...

Some of you have to have decent rigs to go mushroom foraying...

Nice pics, nice rig and a nice set of aftermarket upgrades friend!

I almost bought a brand new Xterra in 2013 but didn't pull the trigger.

I had a 2012 orange Jeep Wrangler not to long ago.  But I just traded it in.  It was fun, but wasn't practical for this family man. Between my kids and my life...the jeep was a pain in the ass when it came to space.  I couldn't barely go do a big grocery shop with the kids with me.

I like camping and I like being able to do certain house and property chores and random errands that all require a truck box to make life easier

Long story short, I traded my jeep in for a pick up

While it's no jeep or land cruiser/suv (the short wheel base is everything with good 4x4 trails)...I've already had it on the butt fuck nowhere logging roads and she's seen some off road fun .  The lift is helpful and welcome

Heh, it took me like 6 months to earn up the money for this setup.  Got a job in construction and it sucks, but hey, gotta do what you gotta do.    Still can't afford new brake lines though, that's on my bucket list.

Check out my old stock leaf packs... Notice something... Missing?  :lolsy:

It's a lot taller than stock now, a lot more travel too.
