I'm likely moving away from Birdseed after this last 50lbs is gone. I like the look of whole oats really, and there are feed stores all around....
Ace hardware sells the seeds individually

Just as I suspected. Dollar store has some nice looking seed withou much in it. Ingredients "grain products, white millet, sunflower seed, calcium carbohydrate"
That's all.
Should I sift all the corn and sunflower seeds out? Or is it okay to leave them?

I think I may have found a great product actually. All the sunflower seeds float easily and are easy to get out.
All I can see is red millet and cracked corn. I know cracked corn isn't the best, but really there's only two things in it i can see. It says white millet but the color is quite brown/red.
Also not much trash at all when rinsing. Runs clear after just two or three rinses max

Just about all farm and feed stores have 50lb bags of whole oats on the cheap. Some have rye, which is a little better.
