Any ideas how long until harvest
    #23506477 - 08/03/16 05:01 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

I was wondering if anyone had an estimate of when I should expect hot harvest.

When you say perfect humidity that makes me think you don't actually know what humidity would be perfect.  No offense just.... you know.. nah.  There is no perfect humidity, because ideally it should fluctuate throughout the day. 75-95% is all pretty decent territory.  The humidity fluctuating is important because it triggers evaporation which is going to have more of an effect on your pinning/growth than the moisture that you'd otherwise not have to replace.

Lol! I was thinking the same thing. Perfect humidity is just silly. Now if he said his cakes are glistening perfectly, I'd be all down for it lol

Constantly above 90% is no good.  You shouldn't really be measuring the humidity anyway, it'll just confuse you.  Start off learning to read the mycelium and you won't ever have to look at anything else.

Nah dude 90% rh means jack shit.
You have the SGFC right?

You want your cakes to have a chance to evaporate after you mist them till they're glistening like mad

What happens is, the Verm layer around your cakes will keep the surface of your cakes at optimum humidity. When you mist it creates a microclimate for your cakes around 90%.
You want this to evaporate though in order to trigger pinning, then mist again accordingly. A RH of 90% in your chamber will not allow this

Well, I dunno, a little logic dictates that fanning cannot accomplish anything that passive airflow can't accomplish on its own in 5 minutes.

I never noticed any change when I stopped fanning things so I never kept doing it.  I guess at one point people thought there was a need to jumpstart evaporation but, like I said, you could save yourself a good bit of arm flapping by just letting it happen on its own, the sgfc has holes just for that purpose.
