Found a sparkly bracelet in my thai food * 1
    #23506359 - 08/03/16 04:34 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Got takeout from a thai restaurant and there's a (probably fake) gold/diamond bracelet in the middle of the noodles.

So I wash all the sauce off of it and take it back down there to return it, hoping to hear somebody thank me in a foreign language. But the owner just looks at me with a really confused look on her face and after examining the bracelet for a second claimed that it hadn't come from there.

I kinda think she was lying or just didn't want to deal with it. I mean what, did the noodle manufacturer cause it and they didn't notice? So now I'm on to getting it appraised. I'm almost certain that its fake because:

1) Someone was apparently cooking with it on
2) the gold has faded/worn away in spots to reveal a silvery colored metal
3) The "diamonds" are on the big side, leading me to believe its fake.

Oh well, was still an interesting quest.

Restaurant could've probably gotten in trouble for that, hence she didn't admit to it being from there.
Your intentions were noble tho, good job.

This. China man inspected the diamonds. Realized they were fake. Weighed the risk/reward. Decided he can just fire the dime-a-dozen Mexican immigrant cooking Thai food

If it was real he would have kept it :yesnod:

Keep it as a souvenir to give away when the time comes.

My GUESS is that an employee broke up with someone and dumped the gift she got into the food to be rid of it.

Its OK.

Dont let the seeds spoil the watermelon.

Lots of bad stuff can come from these instances. If it were a health inspector who found the bracelet, that restaurant would be in a world of trouble. Or had you reported it. Luckily for them it seems like you didn't. And they did the right thing for their own good to deny it.

OP did you eat the food after removing the bracelet? Some of the gold flakes might have flaked off into the Thai sauce.

Lets look at the sunny side of this.

He found a jewel in his food without breaking his tooth on it.

Look at the upside!

LOL.

I'm getting a bit of a reputation with tghe swimming pool staff by the way. Seriously, I keep finding jewelry in the pool and return it to them. I found rings, necklaces, wallets, silver afro hair braid beads, crazy stuff.

I dohnt even dive for it too, I keep stepping on it in the pool.

I attract silver, gold and gemstones :gameover:

What I find very hard to integrate with my understanding of Thailand is that their president called their people to KILL drug dealers and drug users. Literally KILL them without a trial.

That guy needs to go. Thats not the glory of Siam that is madness.

Why is it that people can't accept responsibility for anything... It's not as if it was even important...

One of my mom's tenant installed an air conditioner in his window. It was too tilted and it started dripping water along the wall. The tenant living under her apartment called saying that there was water coming in. My stepdad went to check it out. he noticed immediately the source of the problem so he knocked on the tenants door the tell her to adjust her AC because it was leaking water. She immediately went in defense mode saying that nothing was her fault and it must be rain (sunny out) or a pipe burst (no pipe there). Even after saying he didn't blame her or asked anything of her other than titlting the AC, she still denied it completely.

Another tenan, the trailer park this time. We have water rentention tanks for the well and it kept emptying itself out. The park's manager said it was because someone was watering his garden all day... Stepdad goes to check it out. The garden had obviously been watered recently. The guy denied everything. Almost yelled. But since he wasn't currently watering the garden, my stepdad left it at that... Two days after, same problem. And we got lucky this time, because the guys hose was peirced or something and there was a lake in his backyard. He hadn't seen it. Step dad knocks on door, says hey, stop watering your garden. Guy denies everything. Then my stepdad says "oh yeah, do you mind explaining the lake in your backyard?" guy goes to take a look, saw that he couldn't talk his way out of this one, he turne bright red knowing he'd been caught red handed and immediately shut up and stopped abusing water....

Fucking people....

The possible restaurant owner didn't want to loose everything they'd built up in their business over a misplaced bracelet, maybe that's why they denied it. Its a health hazard and that can be used as grounds to sue or what not.

I still don't understand how something like that even happens. It's a whole goddamn bracelet, it's not a single bead or crystal that fell off. A ring or an earring, okay, maybe I can buy that, but a bracelet with big, gaudy fake diamonds on it? :strokebeard:

Yeah I pretty much just wanna see a pic of the bracelet.

I'm sure if we get a pic it will be as equally as dissatisfying as not getting one...but why leave all the possibilities to guessing...pics man.

I dont think that, its just a scenario to explain a bracelet in Thai food.

Its an odd item to lose unintentionally.
