Most beautiful plant in most ugly place

Spotted this the other day and went for a night reconnaissance. I'm very surprised to find my first datura in Portland let alone the first I've seen in North America. This thing is healthy and so beautiful yet it's in the most crowded ugly place in town. Barely any room between the sidewalk and the busy street. Another 6 inches and cars will be brushing up on it as they speed past. Also there is barely room for a sidewalk and people are already brushing up as they walk by. Poor thing already had the flower that called my attention ripped off.
My question is would it be ok if I cut clones and a few seed pods from her? I'd consider this a wild plant but curious how people here feel about it. I was thinking about asking the owners of the junkyard that it is in front if I could take a clone or 3.

Its got seed pods. Just wait and get seeds later. It looks to be by the road, which doesnt belong to anyone. Walk by. Take admiration to the plant and snip a cutting. No harm. No foul.

If you do take seed pods, wait until the pod turns brown, then harvest.
When I was in the SE, USA, Datura grew everywhere in pasture lands, really easy to get wild genetics.
Nice find.

Thanks everybody!! I had just grabbed two seed pods when I friggin realized I should have asked when the best time would be. Unfortuantely the spot she found to live in I would be surprised if she lives much longer.
Interesting little find for sure. In an area with heavy crime and police on patrol. All looking for drugs one way or another, yet they are all blind to a very intoxicating little devil just below their noses.
When I "find" new rarities like this it reminds me I don't need to be on the search all the time; but to be alert to the split second glimpse of a chance to see true beauty, no matter what it is in life.

You needed to wait for the pods to turn brown and crack open revealing the seeds.
I took this picture of a big wild one the other day,and the next day I went out there,I found hundreds of them growing everywhere! I never saw them previously because there were no blooms and they blended in with all the other weeds, but now,it's Datura Kingdom out there

Datura and Brugmansis are in the same family of plants, and there is little difference in the two.
That stuff is the worst as far as ingesting goes,,but growing them for Ornamental reason is the way to go

Yeah,I tried growing some Brugs this season, but it got hot quick, and the bugs kept destroying them all in the seedling stage,so I gave up.

What is this one?
That is the double purple datura, grows about 3 feet tall and lives 4-5 years, so I read. It threw out a bunch of flowers in june/july, and has settled down now, and has a bunch of pods in the works.
Side note to earlier comments, datura flowers point up, Brug flowers hang down, I have some seeds I just planted for dwarf pink brug. weeee

I had a couple of those, and they were so nice and healthy I started them from seed late winter, and my greenhouse got blown over destroying them all
I started up more, but the bugs and heat got the best of them,so I gave up. Alas I used up all my seeds, but I still have a couple of varieties left to try next season
Yours is beautiful by the way

Here is when you harvest Datura pods.

I would have gotten seeds, but these just aren't as showy as the cultivated types.
