yeah they're fantastic. i wish i could find them by me. they are the one edible that i have been looking for but have yet to find. they sell them at most of the grocery stores by me though.
i actually think ill go get some and make mushroom raviolo today for dinner.

The oysters look like they've seen better days. I'd guess that if you harvest them you'll find them riddled with holes and little bugs inside. I've had a hard time finding any oysters this year that haven't been bug eaten. Even small ones that I'm sure are very young.

good luck finding choice oysters in warm/hot humid summer. it was the first abundant edible i learned and a favorite of many woodland critters, large and small.
the wife and i love them as well and have them all over the woods/my yard near us. IME the very best in my area are found from around the last week of OCT through some time in april, give or take a couple weeks due to wx variance. get them fresh during cold wx and they're a very sweet, mildly nutty, delicious, and abundant wild edible when simply sauteed with buttah.
you could find them as large as dinner plates and very fresh this past spring in the mid-atlantic US.
