Noob cakes

Hi,
I'm a noob here. I'm from the UK. My work used to involve microbiology and aseptics so spores and being super clean are pretty much second nature. I also make small batches of microbrews, so
I've had a pretty interesting life involving a lot of travel. I play a few instruments and spent much of my youth playing gigs in pretty crap bands. I was once briefly in a band called the Psilocybin Experience LOL. Those days involved quite a lot of experimentation.
I'm old now. Getting on for 50. I started growing shrooms recently after reading a number of articles and studies touting the positive affects of mushrooms.
I'll leave it at that for now Very pleased with my healthy looking cakes so couldn't resist posting a pic. These shall be going into my fruiting chamber within the next few days.

Leicester :O
Live near Leeds, but from Lincs a long time ago. I frequented the Charlotte in Leicester back in the day. Haven't a clue if it's still there.

Nah, it's the lighting & a bit of vermic Had a look this morning. I have fallen foul of mould with my 1st attempt (thanks to my son bursting in while I was inoculating). I had one good cake though. 2nd attempt was fine.
Below are my third attempt. BRF. I added coffee grounds plus gypsum & yeast nutrient that I use for beer. Spores seem to love that.

So fellow noob peeps...here are those 2 cakes now.
The cake that has sprouted is 2 days ahead of the second one colonisation-wise. A few mutants around the edge....I flipped the cake yesterday when I noticed it was pinning underneath.
I have to conclude my own version of plastic tek with BRF + coffee grounds + yeast nutrient + gypsum, has been a success.

Got 2 more cakes inoculated with Cambodian spores that are colonising at the speed of light....almost. Way faster than my first B+ (a bit slow), and those GTs above (pretty fast).
Bit of a learning curve thus far but all good with latest two batches.

There's a bunch wrong with what you're doing let's see if we can get you in cultivation.. you need a real fruiting chamber. It's way too wet and not enough air.

This thread was moved from The Pub.
Reason: Perhaps you will get better replies here.
Good luck.
The first grows can be tricky but eventually you should get the hang of things.

Hi. I have a fruiting chamber but took the lid off to mist and photograph. It has an adjustable vent so plenty of air exchange.
What am I doing wrong/ how to improve?
Made up BRF tek. Sterilised. Inoculated. Allowed cakes to fully colonise at around 28C. Dunked cakes overnight. Placed in fruiting chamber- ambient temp around 20-22C. Misted 2-3 times a day. After a few days one cake has started fruiting as per the second pic.
Looks pretty healthy to me?? Always open to any suggestions for improvement though.
