My first Liquid Culture, stir every day or just before and after inoculation
    #23504130 - 08/03/16 12:13 AM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Hello everybody, first of all thank you to be a member shroomery.org, and thank you
to all the mushroom cultivation freaks out there for posting so much important info.
Im on my first LC, I did BRF cakes yet and switched over to level 2 with WBS.
My question is, if i should stir every day gently or just before and after inoculation,
and if it looks like a normal growth yet as its orange/brown, instead of white what ive seen at other threads.
It has build some kind of a clump on one of the jars. Ive used the creamcorn LC cloning tek using 435ml jars as well, filled ´em up with 200ml of destilled water and clean honey.

The first pic was made by cloning, two days after inoculation:

The second one was made by MSS, three days after inoculation:

Another thing to mention, the MSS was made by myself from the BRF cakes and I cannot say really if it was made contam free..

Successfull Cultivational Greetings

Clean cultures from Agar are really the only foolproof way to inoculate a Liquid culture, use a multistrain syringe to inoculate an agar plate, then use a clean agar wedge to inoculate the Lc...,it's one easy extra step that ensures clean culture.....but here are some pictures of water honey LC known to be clean:

Swirl it once or twice a day until you're done with it..,,

Good thing ive Aga Agar laying here then, for emergency or just in case.
I was also thinking about to buy a magnetic stir plate from ebay for like 38 bucks,
i think it might be of benefit as ive just read of a faster colonization while constant swirl/stir,
instead 7-10 days in just a few days.

Single cell organisms benefit from stir plate use but for mycelium low agitation or occasionally agitation is what you want. Break up the colony right before you use it
