Habitat: Coastal Nova Scotia, on a newer sod lawn. Gills: Light brownish-grayish, visible from side profile
Stem: Thin (1-2mm), curved, lines going up and down (3-6cm), beige in color, pretty frail, no bruising
Cap: 1-3cm, beige to brown, dry, spherical, concave though appears to flatten when drying
Spore print color: Dark brown (though appearing nearly black after drying in oven with fan on)
Bruising: N/A
Other information: Smell like mushrooms; nothing strange noted. Should be noted that they are only growing on relatively fresh sod.

I've also included a photo (last one) of what I thought were a less mature version of the description above, though questioning now if they are a different type. Dried, same growing conditions, fills not visible from side profile, no spore print.

That was my first thought as well. The ones in the last photos seemed a little more interesting though. Any thoughts on the gills not being visible from the side profile?

You want mottled gills for the active kind p. cinctulus and the stipe and gills are darker and they are also going to be weaker in that habitat, piles of decomposing hay n compost produce better alkaloids and bigger mushrooms, although sometimes the grass land ones can be decent, dung piles fruit nearly all year here feb to frosts all mine are gone though sadly, they enjoy hotter days after rainfall, the habitat is decent for the weaker phenos, get used to printing foes and lookalikes and you'll be able to visually tell the difference in the end. The gills are mottled, black with grey edges when mature.
-------------------- I give you the choice of 2 pills.
With each containing one of the following: Cyanide... Psilocin... Would you take the risk? Didn't think so. This is why Positive Identification prior to consumption is important.
