Inky Caps (I believe)
    #23502439 - 08/02/16 04:13 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Outside today after a nice rain I came across some Coprinellus (I believe) species guys chilling on woodchips. Took a couple pictures to share.

Texture of these kind of reminds me of C. Comatus.

Anyone have any idea what causes the cap to melt like that? Also I'd like some advice on taking spore prints from these guys.

Those are definitely some type of inky cap IMO.

The cap melts to distribute spores.

Idk how though.

Thank you, I had come to the conclusion that it was C. Micaceus because I never found any powder on the caps that began melting, only on young ones. Awesome, could you suggest any ways to make a spore print? Or should I give up on this one.
