Not at all, I've done it before with success.

Just because you did something once or twice or even a dozen times, doesn't mean it was successful or that it was a viable method. Loads of people get away with all kinds of ill advised stuff. There was a guy a few years back who did grain expansion, in open air, with a spoon dipped in alcohol, from contamed jars just avoiding the contam. He swore it worked, he did it with success.
Fast forward a few years and he does agar in a SAB with the rest of us. He got away with it for a long time too. But when his luck ran out, it ran out nasty.
Run 10 tubs and call it luck. Run 1000 and call it success.

With that in mind I'll refrain from my experiments. I'll stick to my agar and petri dishes. (which I hate.) I want to use jars for my agar but it's all prepoured into petri dishes and I don't know of a tek to transfer it.

Mess around with stuff all you want. Just don't expect anyone else to take your word for it without some real documentation. Also an experiment has a hypothesis and usually only a single uncontrolled variable. MS is a variable unless you have a large sample size and use t tests. Keep that in mind and you will do fine.
