Lmao yeah the chip is taking over isn't it
All the businesses I frequent are steadily replacing their old ones with the chip readers

It's wack! Not only is the technology making things way too complicated, but I'm also a bit superstitious.

I've said "it's a chip card" about 500+ times in the last year. People are still not catching on... Sorry to tell you this OP but these "chip cards" are the new thang. I don't think there is any way to opt out of getting one if you are having your card reissued or getting a new one.

They are safer to use in the long run. Granted, they all have the magnetic strip still, but they will be safer to use in the future when all cards have switched over.
Don't know what you're paranoid about. The bank already has all your information. Hell, it has all your money too.

It's impossible to opt out of chip cards. I work for capital one. Get this. All the old cards that don't have the chip are being deactivated. New chip cards are being sent out. I sometimes have customers call in at the store about to buy something when the old card they have doesn't work anymore. I don't really think these cards are more secure. I think they just want everyone to have one so they can be tracked and monitored.

They are far more secure. It's much harder to steal the data on the chip than it is from the strip.

You can be tracked and monitored without the chip from your purchases with the old technology. This chip on new cards doesn't do anything to change that relationship with your money. It's literally just a different data medium for data stored on the card. It has more identity info capabilities linking you to your account.

Honestly that doesn't seem to be the case. Again, I work for capital one. I also work in the fraud department. There seems to be more fraud on new chip cards then even the old cards. People still call us for the same issues as before if not more callers than before.

Was talking about this with a friend the other day, I could see it happening in the next 20-40 years if not sooner honestly
