I'll definitely listen to CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, that's why I'm here at all. I can also discern when advice doesn't really suit my experience level. Every PF Tek I read mentioned keeping humidity within a certain range. The only reason I'm getting perfect results my first time around is because I follow instructions.
Asking me to throw instructions from the experts out the window is foolish.

My next grow I'm going to put a clock in the tub that tells me what time it is in China.
Honestly I hate that RH of the chamber was ever mentioned as something to be worried about, you end up with noobs suffocating their mushrooms by taping up holes or not even having any, over misting ect. Surface conditions is what matters and it cannot be measured, the worst thing that could happen with low chamber RH is having to mist more often or cracked caps.

I would really love it if someone could please go into more detail about what to look for specifically.
What you're saying makes sense but I'm just reading vague allusions to these signs, rather than a description of what they actually are.
Thanks.

Yes and most of those are 30 years old and need an update. Any newer tek that instructs you to use a SGFC will not say anything about using a hygrometer.

You want the surface to glisten after you finish misting. Once all the water is gone you mist again until it glistens. Tiny beads of water. Usually will be 2 to 3 times a day to maintain.
If the surface is dry it often turns blue from bruising. Pins and fruits that are too dry will get light in color and look cracked.

Look at the cakes to see if they are covered with very fine beads of moisture, a flashlight or lamp helps. If not mist until glistening, repeat when they have evaporated. Evaporation off the surface is the major pinning trigger and provides RH at the microclimate. Fruiting chambers are for our benefit so we don't have to mist as often. When built properly the RH in a sgfc will fluctuate allowing room for evaporation, trust in the proven design and mist as needed.

Thanks for the clarification. I have been doing just that so I guess I picked it up somewhere around here.
