Hello,
I'm thinking about trying to grow mushrooms, I'll be growing them using the PF-Tek technique, and I'm just wondering if I can grow them any time of the year? I'm in Australia and in about 3-4 months the weather will really start to heat up.. Will this affect the growth?
Thank you! Sorry for my noobiness

The weather will be fine dude.
Dont know if you realised, but they naturally grow up the coast of NSW and QLD in summer.

Cubes are tropical by nature so unless it gets reallllly hot in your home then you should be just fine. I live in the northeast of the US and we go from around 0F in the winter to as high as 100F in the summer (now) and I grow successfully year round. My hous fluctuates between 65f and 75f without problem. Ideally you want to grow between 65 and 75 to reduce the possibility of contamination (mold etc likes the higher temps). Also if you grow towards the lower end of the spectrum the fruits tend to be meatier and more solid.
This is a great community and an awesome source of information. Read the Teks and use the search tools and you will be amazed at what you can do without ever asking a question. Though the folks here are generally happy to help those that help themselves.
Good luck and welcome to the hobby.

The species is Psilocybe Cubensis Most varieties are pretty much the same. PE can require a bit of finesse. I say start with Golden Teacher, B+, PF Classic. They are pretty easy to grow and work well with PF Tek. They colonize easily and produce lovely boomers. Just follow the Teks. Good Luck.
