isnt rio like filled witrh slummy ghettos and massive poverty and crime?
thats like a great place to have the Olympics. love it best idea wow.
cause its not like they can um..... you know approprate the funds being burned into the olympics back into thier own people. that'd be a horrible idea. instead lets have an event that draws global attention to our shit hole and then once all the fire light dies out, lets TOTALLY maintian the areas we built specifically for the events. yep totally gonna happen.
love it this is gonna be a show,

Sounds like it only applies to "open water" sports.
It should be easy to maintain/sterilize an indoor pool. I feel like criticisms are normal for Olympic venues. They need to be held in a major city to accommodate the people, and most major cities have at least a small area with high crime and low SES. I seem to recall people complaining about the Olympics in China and Russia as well.
At least there's no time delay these games.

Yeah, so Only 1400 athletes will be exposed to extremely toxic conditions.
There is a bright side after all
I honestly don't sympathize with the athletes at all, if one is foolish enough to expose themselves to such conditions, they've earned the consequences.
