I have a HD in my pc.
I want to hook up a PCIe.
Can I just copy and paste my entire HD on to the PCIe?

A pci-e what? PCI-e solid state drive? You can copy and paste files from one drive to another, but if you want to boot the operating system from it, or most programs (all apart from steam games) you will need to reinstall it.

You could clone the drive if the solid state has the room, or make a partition that's the right size to clone it to. If in fact you're talking about a PCIe solid state drive here.

Yeah I guess I am referring to the ssd.
I want to put w10 and a version of Linux on my drive. Pcie ssd. Can you install your old games on the new drive and then copy move the files over and presto! Continue where you were? I would think so.

Yes you can. Just make sure you copy all the save info from your games, any mods and set-up info. Some games save this stuff in multiple locations.

If your switching to an SSD your going to want to do a complete windows install onto the SSD. If Windows itself doesn't boot from the SSD then it's pointless. Your going to notice a significant decrease in restart times and increase in responsiveness. HDD's suck

Plus, it's always good to do a clean install of windows every 12-16 months or so. Just make sure you backup any important files you'll need or want to keep so you don't have to re-download them. Honestly it's not bad having to download all your games again, especially since you realize how few of them you actually play when you have 500GB+ installed (at least, that's true for me).
