Looks like sand
    #23497283 - 07/31/16 10:58 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Alright peeps. Newbie here, first time cultivation of fungus. Strain is Golden Teacher, pf-tek brf cake. Question I have is, I'm assuming this is some kind of mold, but I have been looking at pictures of mold on mushrooms substrates now for about 4 days. I haven't really seen anything like this, but it looks like sand on top of the cake. It hasn't really grown at all while my little girls are coming along fine. I was just wondering what this light brown sand looking stuff is and what are my best chances for salvaging any of the ladies before it takes over?

Looks like mold. You have very little fae in there, and the mold is loving it. The fruits are also long lanky and hella fuzzy feet because of it as well. This looks like a bad chamber. The consensus on hydroton is its shit. Build a proper sgfc next time.
