Is this a reishi?

A friend brought this to work for me, im about 90 percent sure its a reishi.

Yes, but it's old and dried out. Likely from last year. You want to harvest them when they have a thin yellowish edge and the underside is all white.

Can i still boil it to make a broth or is it useless?

Personally I wouldn't bother. I've heard (but haven't confirmed with proper research) that the healthy compounds dissipate if you harvest them after they dry out. It's likely full of holes inside from bugs too. Lastly, a reishi that size is only about one dose once it's made into tea so you really won't get much in terms of the health benefits from just that one.

I would not use that to make tea, it's very old, and you can get food poisoning from old mushrooms.
You want to use them when the pore surface is still white, off white, tan, or slightly brown from spore deposits, and the top of the cap is not aged so much.
Reishi are not hard to find though, and maybe your friend that brought you the specimen could show you where they found it so that you could investigate further, they tend to grow back in an area for years.
