First PF Tek grow with Psy Cubensis / Corumba

This is actually my 2nd grow -- my first is an oyster mushroom pf tek for the children , which I'm still working to iron out (if you want to help me with my questions about it the thread is here).
This one is a Corumba strain. I knocked up 14 PF Tek jars with the syringe, and they all colonized *really* well, with no apparent contams.
Ten of them I set up in a SGFC. I double-stacked them with verm underneath, in between and on top. The room temp is about 80-85°F, and I have a 12 hr on/off cycle CFL light close by, plus ambient sunlight from a nearby window. I've been misting & fanning 5-6 times a day.
This is 5 days since seating them in the SGFC. I see 2 pins and they've been there for about 2 days now. Is the myc looking ok around the pins? I will say, every time I lift the lid the smell inside is sweetly aromatic -- quite pleasant, like being deep in the woods by a bubbling brook. I hope that's what the myc is supposed to smell like.

Thanks. Can you explain what you are looking at to come to that conclusion? ... so I can learn to assess it myself as well?
Also, could I set up a low-speed fan blowing in the room as a first step to increase FAE? I thought the SGFC design would take care of giving me the right level. I have made it to spec... 1/4" holes, 2" apart, on all 6 sides. The chamber is suspended on 4 jars with enough airspace underneath, and the whole thing is at table height.
With appreciation...

Do you have a pic of your SGFC in operation? Also, did you dunk & roll your cakes after birthing. I don't see verm so I'm going to say no to the roll part.

To me it looks like that is just knotting up. It might need more FAE....,Might....yes a low blowing desk fan in the room is a useful tool sometimes.
I would guess that he guess more FAE needed because sometimes the mycelium will look fuzzy or look like its literally reaching into the air....but I think your cake is just knotting up ready to flush.
It does look a little wet, unless you just misted, wait until it looks dry to mist again.

Here's a pic of the SGFC.

And another one:

I dunked the cakes for 24 hours after birthing. I only put verm in layers below, between and above the stacked cakes. No rolling, as you saw.
To answer Mycologist217, I had just misted, hence the beaded, damp look. If it still looks like it is damp, I generally don't mist the cakes, just the perlite next to them.

Okay. You should have rolled the dunked cakes in verm completely and let the cake kind of assimilate it (no misting for 24 hrs or better) to lock in the verm. It is critical to providing the surface humidity your cakes will want.
Also, is there a monster in the other end of the SGFC? Spread those cakes out so they all get air flow. Use all the room you have, it's there for a reason. The more fresh air you get to all surface of the cake, other than the bottom sitting on foil, the more pinning surface you have.
The SGFC looks up to spec. Get these cakes a little more spread out so they all get airflow and unstack them.

I had seen cakes that were double-stacked, no verm on the sides somewhere on shroomery, and it looked cool.
Can I still roll them, mid flush? (It's been 5 days since I took them out of their dunk and set them up.) I'd like to pick 'em up one by one, roll them in dry verm, & re-seat them -- spaced out this time -- in the chamber?
I can try to be really gentle with the 2 that have pins coming out of them; or just leave those two be except for reseating them.

Double stack/no verm is not cool, it's far from optimal for them. Don't even think or worry about what looks cool, especially if stuff like that is what jumps out at you.
It's a gamble if you roll now, best to do ASAP after birthing so fewer contaminants will have landed between the verm and the cake.

OK. Thanks! I'll just keep an eye on them rather than messing it up more this time... but try to do better when I'm ready for the 2nd flush (if there's even a 1st flush!)
Also, fan or no fan in the room? I've gotten mixed advice in the thread here. Can a TC weigh in on this?

No insult intended, Inocuole. Someone else above had suggested to use a small fan so I wanted to be sure. I will def use the search engine as well for future Qs.

Well now you and I and everyone else all know that guy doesn't know about cakes and SGFCs and shouldn't give advice on them until he does.

Because of the constant FAE, your cakes will dry out if not misted regularly.
TC stamp and all.

Is there a way to tell who's TC? I have seen references to a "stripe", a "stamp" and a "tag" for TCs. Same thing, I am guessing? But where is it? When I look at your post, for example, this is all I see in the left margin:

Which of these is a TC stamp - or is it not showing for some reason on my account?

Nobody in here is a TC so yeah you might have trouble spotting it. There's no button to summon them either. Hell, some of them, you'd be better off not hearing their opinion.
