Okay before anything this is my first post, I've lurked around for a while and finally decided to join the community. I went on my first hunt today because I've been so intrigued about these mushrooms. I don't really care if they are active or not, my first trip today was just to solely find mushrooms and learn how to spot them and etc. I have a few pictures, the picture of the cap with gills is from the last pictured mushroom and the others are different mushrooms I just happened to find. I'm assuming none of them are active because I checked what grows in my state and none of them really matched up. So an ID is more of to help confirm this and to learn. Also any tips on how I can start to try and identify myself, is there a website people use to compare their shrooms to what's on there, etc? I don't want to just rely on people to ID without me trying to learn and make educated guesses myself. Anyways cheers and sorry if this post is nooby, I'll take constructive criticism to become better. Shrooms were found in New Hampshire if that helps.

The ones with yellow caps are an amanita species. The grey cap may be russula species. No, nothing active.
There's 2 books I recently purchased for a beginning mushroom hunter and recommend both.
The Complete Mushroom Hunter: An Illustrated Guide to Finding, Harvesting, and Enjoying Wild Mushrooms
National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms
Aside from this site there's 2 other sites I use regularly to help ID. Mushroom observer and Mycokey.
Good luck foraging!
-------------------- I'd like to think I'm smart enough to realize how much knowledge I don't have.

Thank you very much, I'll be sure to pick up those books. It just rained so my next forage I'll be sure to try and ID them myself after learning a bit and see if I get it right. Cheers!
