White mushroom with no gills? Need ID help (Georgia)
    #23493251 - 07/30/16 05:48 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

http://

Day 2 of looking for any type of magical mushrooms and all I seem to be finding is inactive ones that are edible (and apparently tasty according to some people) found a few of these scattered out in the bed of a stream that was dryed up (still a little moist) it has no gills so I have no clue how to do a spore print.smelt kind of dirty and no bruising on the stem (or atleast couldn't tell because you can see how dark it is in the picture) the whole thing is just really white. Any clues as to what it is and if it's active? (Also I live in Georgia if that helps)

It's not active, or even edible. It's a fungus parasitizing a mushroom. It is certainly an interesting find.

Happy mushrooming!

It seemed kinda rotten on the inside of the mushroom but I'm a noob so I figured "hey, maybe there's a kind of mushroom that grows like this"  hopefully I'll have better luck tomorrow and find something active.thank you for your help, these forums are the best lol
