G. Tsugae and G. Lucidum
    #23492973 - 07/30/16 04:07 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Hey everyone hope alls good in tha hood.
Anyways i'm looking to get into growing some reishi and i was wondering if the difference in medicinal value is negligible.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7065047
In this RR says they're basically the same and i tend to believe that, but for some reason i still have this nagging suspicion that since one is grown on pine/hemlock (tsugae) and the other on only hardwoods/oak (lucidum) there would have to be some differences.

Anyone have any experience with both tsugae and lucidum and notice if one or the other was more effective?

Thanks all!

While this article is old it gives a really good breakdown of the difference in the 2 species. http://140.109.56.8/tseng/pdf/089.PDF

I've heard that Tsugae is harder to cultivate. I've got some wild spores on agar now that I'm seeing if I'll be able to do anything with. If it works at all I post on my progress.

thank you! that link was extremely helpful :highfive1:

from the sounds of it, for both species, it seems genetics and actual culture age play the biggest role in soluble protein, carbohydrates and lipids.
