Horse Manure - 2 years old? Still nutritious?

I found a guy nearby with a pile of poo. He said it's not composted, they just throw it out there from the stalls, nothing mixed in. He said it's been out there a couple years, but I'm sure there's new stuff added daily.
Any pointers on choosing where from the pile to grab some? I don't want it if I'm not going to get all the benefits.. I'll just go back to Coir/Verm, but I wanted to try some h-poo.
If I find a spot on top that looks nice and dry and aged, should I go for that? Or go for deeper in the pile, then lay out in the sun if I still smell pee?

I wouldn't see anything wrong with it, but I don't really know a whole lot about pasteurizing h/poo. But if they throw fresh poo on top of the pile, then I would assume all the microorganisms would still be crawling all over that pile. Even if they didn't throw fresh poo on it, you'd probably still be fine.
Wait for someone with experience on the subject to say something, just my

Poo from the stalls is probably full of cedar chips which are toxic to fungi. You want the stuff from the field.

Old poo isn't so bad, but usually looks like dirt because it's broken down so much. I usually use that for the garden, or outdoor patches.
If you can spot the Nuggets of poo, grab those. Much easier to sort out any foreign junk that might have gotten mixed in.

Don't mean to hijack this thread.Ican get composted poo from a zoo plus yard waste. If I pasturize it do you think it would work. What else would I need to add?

Zoo animals are not the kind you want poo from usually. Cow and horses hardly digest the grasses they eat. You want that

Ok. Thanks. I went with pf tek.I chose PE strain. Read they don't do well on cakes. Been reading up on mini monos. I want to make my own substrate. I have 14 jars all looking good after 10 days. I also can get composted hpoo.

Field aged, leached hpoo is the best. I like stuff that's more or less disintegrated. A few nuggets are fine but they're a lot of work to break up. I get mine from a nice old couple on the outskirts of town with happy horses. They have a big pile of hpoo that's nice and aged and they give it away on Craigslist. The only foreign material in it is a little bit of straw here and there.

Been looking for hpoo in my area. Most has cedar chips or sawdust in it. Stuff on line is pricey.

Cubensis acts as a primary and secondary decomposer. Your best with pasteurized field aged manure or straw, rather than composted. Even though it will work on composted substrate but like cron said not as well
