I've never experienced that. Unwanted molds grow quick on everything from cakes to grains.
Bacteria has a harder time fucking a whole cake up though

3-4 days to see growtg is the norm with me when it comes to grains and never had any problems. Maybe i am the exception not the rule.

With grains you should not be getting mold contamination anyway. But leave some PF cakes unsterilized they go mold in a day

Dry verm layer won't protect an unsterilized cake from itself.

You can imagine that spore solution isn't being absorbed into bird seed grains....the solution stays fluid and fluid dynamics will naturally bring about a higher collision rate of spores, whereas the substrates in a cake absorb the fluid giving the spores less mobility and slower germination times.....that's just a guess though....when I used spores it took 3 days either application....only did spores to grain once though.....grew out of that nonsense fast
