BEND, OREGON- A young Bend man investigated for alleged drug trafficking in Deschutes County was arrested last week by the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement team.
At about 9:25 a.m. on July 21, detectives with the CODE team stopped Cylyx Spaethe, 18, while he was driving a 2004 Jeep Cherokee with a passenger, Adrienne Haskett, 18 of Bend, on U.S. Highway 20 West near Sisters, according to a release Wednesday from the CODE team.
In a short-term investigation, CODE detectives had found Spaethe was involved in trafficking large amounts of narcotics in Deschutes County. They learned Spaethe was traveling to the Willamette Valley area regularly to obtain narcotics that he would then distribute in Deschutes County, according to the release.
During the traffic stop, a narcotics K-9 alerted officers to drugs being in the vehicle, according to police. Officers searched the Jeep and found 5 ounces of cocaine, 3 ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, 2 pounds of marijuana, a “commercial amount” of LSD, 1.5 ounces of MDMA, or ecstasy, a small amount of butane honey oil extract, a firearm, scales, packaging material and other items related to the sale and manufacture of controlled substances, the release said.
Spaethe and Haskett were arrested on suspicion of possession, manufacturing and distribution of cocaine and MDMA, possession and distribution of LSD, possession and distribution of marijuana and distribution of psilocybin mushrooms. Spaethe was also arrested on possession of psilocybin mushrooms and resisting arrest.
Later that day, detectives continued the investigation by searching the Bend apartment where Spaethe and Haskett were staying. There, detectives found more evidence of the sale and manufacture of narcotics, including a half pound of psilocybin mushrooms, a commercial amount of cocaine, 2.5 ounces of butane honey oil extract, a firearm, scales and packaging material, according to the release.
Spaethe and Haskett were lodged at Deschutes County jail. Haskett was still there as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the jail’s website.

This area seems to have a lot of that. Lots of kids start young trying to hustle a living.
Hell I have even known rich spoiled kids who started selling drugs just to be cool.

I have serious doubts about what qualifies as a "commercial amount" of LSD in the eyes of the police. That could be anything. Don't get me wrong, dude had a bit of drugs, but all those quantities scream small time.
Also they're 18 and now their lives are ruined. Thanks drug war. I'm sure you've really helped these two children

It'll happen eventually. NORML already changed marijuana law in quite a few places. It's only a matter of time, dedication, and effort (and money). One day. One day.

I was wondering about the L too... They could have just had 5-10 hits for all we know or maybe they had a sheet or vial Regardless it certainly is a shame.

One of my rules is to never drive with more than 1 drug at a time, just don't do it.

society cant handle alcohol, what makes you think if left to their own devices they could handle hard drugs?
Im all for it though, I dont care. The problem is where you have drugs you have violence. Where you have violence you have a low quality of life.

I would argue its the other way around, people turn to drugs as the result of being unhappy with their quality of life and get addicted in many cases.
Violence can certainly be caused or triggered by drugs but in many cases it probably was already occurring in some form and drugs were just a catalyst.
It also really comes down to the individual and the drug some people manage heroin/ meth addictions better than many alcoholics for example.

Dude measures his coke and molly in ounces; I doubt he measures his L by the hit.

Yeah but I imagine if the cops busted him with a vial or sheet they would have bragged about it in the article instead of the vague "commercial amount."

It could have been a sheet, 50 hits, or 30, I bet all 3 would have had the same vague description/charge.

That is true but notice:
Quote:
and found 5 ounces of cocaine, 3 ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, 2 pounds of marijuana, a “commercial amount” of LSD, 1.5 ounces of MDMA, or ecstasy, a small amount of butane honey oil extract
They are specific about everything except the "small amount" of BHO and the LSD.
That seems like a sign to me that they felt it would read better as "commercial amount" then 5-10-20 hits or whatever it actually was
