dont shake your cakes.. how do you expect the verm to stick if your shaking it up??
just put verm in a pan, and simply roll your cakes in it right after you take the cakes out of the water. rinse the cakes off then roll.. thats why we call it dunk and roll. then after you roll it, sit it on it's bottom, and put some verm on top. then let it sit in the verm for like 30min or so, then put in SGFC. then dont mist for 24 hours. the verm will stick just fine if you do this.
I like t0o make almost a mountain with my cakes and verm, to let it sit in the verm like that for 30mins or so.
i really dont see how it would really stick much at all from "shaking" it in a bag of verm.. not to mentions, if you did that, and primordia you may have on the cakes will die. and you will likely bruise the shit out of them.

The verm seems to be sticking to the cakes nicely. I removed them from their bags and put them in the bag of verm, one at a time. Completely covered them and rolled them around. I really appreciate the help guys. Thank you very much.

looks pretty good. next time try leave them in the verm for a bit before moving them. it will help more stick. but good job, regardless. seems like there is a decent amount on them.
and yeah, mrm, i was replying to the guy who said to do that haha.
wait.. are there no holes in that tub? youre gonna wanna make a SGFC, or those cakes are gonna suffocate.

My Verm sticks far better shaking the cakes in a bag.... Just my experience though.

hmm strange.. i just cant see that working all that well.. when i am rolling my cakes, if i even slightly touch the sides of it, where the verm is, the verm will mostly fall off.

that's how i do it. and it sticks fairly well.

Yes, I purchased a kit. The tub came with these holes already in it. Does this look sufficient ?

not for cakes, no. cake ideally should be in an SGFC..
you could probably convert that thing, though.
kits usually suck pretty bad. it seems the makers either dont know shit about growing mushrooms, or just dont give a shit if the people who buy them succeed. and are way more expensive than DIY.

Okay. I don't currently have anything to drill holes with, but I will tomorrow. Also, I have a humidifier that came with the kit that is supposed to make it completely maintenence free... I'm assuming this is false as well? Currently I have it set to run for an hour, twice a day. 2am and 2pm. Also, thanks for the help mupetmower.. you've been very resourceful. Much appreciated.

Lol 3 tiny holes and micro-pore tape? Yup, time to break out the ol' 1/4 inch drill bit buddy! You ain't getting fruits like that. You can lose that temp gauge too.
Don't work yourself up over humidity either. The vermiculite you just put on your cakes will keep the humidity directly around your cakes at the optimum level. The humidity in your chamber is not a concern.
The air flow around your cakes will help the moisture evaporate from your cakes which is a natural pinning trigger. Get that SGFC going and mist your cakes whenever they start to dry out.

Awesome.. okay, sounds good. I'm gonna get on it tonight after work. My only concern is that I'm away at work for a good portion of the day. I won't be around to mist the cakes. I can mist before I leave and about 10-12 hours later after I come home from work. Im assuming that will be sufficient, can't say for certain though. If I mist before work, after work and before bed, should that be enough for them? Thoughts?
Thanks for all the help guys. I have a feeling my yields will be much more plentiful after a little help from everyone here. Fanfuckingtasticly so.

Everyone has to go to work. That's why we use a SGFC its nearly maintenance free

yup, and you can toss the humidifier-thing, also. sorry, but they got you. like was said, just mist when the cakes start looking dry, and mist until there are tiny beads of moisture on the cakes. then let dry.
i work,, and i still get fruits just fine. i find myself only needing to mist twice, maybe three times a day, and then when i have fruits, sometimes only once a day. but dont mist on a schedule, just mist when they get dry. if they still have the tiny moisture beads, then wait to mist until those evap.

Beautiful
Damn, I recently had a friend almost buy one of those. She almost spent 150 bucks too. Luckily she told me about it before the kit shipped and got her money refunded.
