How did you raise them? Did you get the eggs from nature?

I like the yellow guy that has a tail

That's awesome, Koods. I like the yellow one. I've never seen one with that coloration. Last year I rescued a bunch of gray tree frog tadpoles from my dad's pool. I didn't raise them though. I just relocated them to a new location.

It wasn't that yellow. I think it just looks like that because of the flash. They're either green or grey colored (they can change between the two)

Yes, I took a clutch of eggs from a pond that was drying up.

That's rad that they turned out to be tree frogs. :awesome:
Of course, you couldn't have known that while they were just tadpoles, could ya?

I know shit like bull frogs will have unique (read: huge) tadpoles and such, but can many frogs be ID'd that young?

I think it was 2009 in Florida when we had non-stop rain for like 25 days. It must have been perfect conditions and timing because there were so many baby frogs after that, that you literally couldn't walk anywhere without killing hundreds of frogs. My yard had like 30 per sq foot. It was wonderful!

I suspected they might be tree frogs since they tend to lay eggs later in the season, but I wasn't sure until today. The tadpoles were so tiny when they hatched - about the same size as a mosquito larva.

Ha, I didn't mean killing them was wonderful. It was wonderful to see nature release so many tiny frogs at once. There was no avoiding them though. I tried tip -toeing around them and it still didn't work

This just happened here recently. Not quite stepping on hundreds of them, but there's a lot of them and it was with Gulf Coast Toad and not a frog.

All that rain we got last couple of months in Houston lead to tons of these damn things around my house. My house is on a raised foundation and when it rains/floods the underside pools water. Perfect place for them to breed really. Protected from most all predators and the harsh sun/heat. Most are still pretty small and my dogs frantically try to chase them before they can get back under the house.

You're doing the lord's work Koods!

I used to capture and raise tadpoles into frogs when I was a kid. I'd take them from a drainage pond and raise them in a pond in my back yard. I also captured a lot of salamanders and newts and kept them in my back yard. One time I beat the crap out of a neighbor kid who intentionally killed a bunch of them.

A few years ago my ex gf caught a toad and we kept it in a tank beside my lizards and I fed it crickets. We released it about a month before hibernation so it could go about the rest of it's life like a normal toad.

I had a couple young neighbor girls find some eggs that I thought frog eggs in a puddle that was drying up so we put them in my baby pool that had water in it. Once they turned to tadpoles I put them in my fish tank so that they would survive and put the rest in the pong near us. I was quite confused when the tadpoles I had these weird gills/wings coming out of them. I had a friend tell me they were salamanders, as I was quite confused with all my tadpoles as a kid that I caught not having gills and turn into a frog. I kept them for about a month and fed them worms and such as they grew bigger and then let them out in the backyard. again.

Good work!

The title reminded me pleasantly of "SCARED TO DEATH!" about our member who inadvertently hatched frogs eggs with his own semen and to his horror saw the chimerae grow.

How long does it take from tadpole to frog??

How long will the slamander take?

Where do you live to find snakes and black widow spiders in your house? DC?

How can I do this too?
