Here's a better pic of the "spines"

It looks like it may have been grafted onto another cactus.

Any idea if it is active?

Sort of looks like a San Pedro, but if it is it's the weirdest looking SP I've ever seen. My guess is no.

Looks like a Juul's Giant, but I am not saying it is, that's the only thing I can think of which looks like that.

If it's grafted onto another cactus, then it's a good bet someone grafted a Juul's onto proper grafting stock (blue myrtle maybe).

Weird looking but I'd say trich for sure and I'd guess pachanoi.

It's Trichocereus scopulicola. New Zealand has lots of these. Potency is mid strength to low. A useful plant.

In future post your location as different continents have different clones.

Wow, I searched that, looks just like pachanoi.

Where did you read about the potency for these?  Do you have a link to a place that list such things, did shulgin work with this one, I know he has some info on the subject of active alkaloids in Trichocereus.

My insight into these cactus are not from reading but personal accounts and via word in the local Aussie ethno scene. I haven't got literature in front of me to tell you whether or not Shulgin worked with this particular cactus.

scoppies differ from pachanoi. I have pictures in my gallery if you're interested.
