Help with meditation?

I have been looking into starting to meditate for a while now but I haven't really had any motivation to start. Two days ago I got a text from my friend and he got hold of some acid so I bought three blotters from him. Earlier today I dropped one for the first time and I felt this would be an amazing thing to meditate on. I was wondering if anyone has tried this before and if you could give me a few starter tips? I am a complete newbie to meditation and psychedelics so any tips would be greatly appreciated

I use meditation during psychedelics when things get way too heavy. doesn't always work, but it's helped me calm my mind plenty of times. Just sit up-right, close your eyes, and take slow but deep breaths. try to focus only on your breathing, and the rest will come. Thoughts happen, just let them come and go without judgement, and ignore pretty much everything that isn't related to your breathing. you want to stay relaxed as possible, so let let any tension go in your body and mind.
That's how I started out. There are a lot of ways to meditate, some being more exploratory than others i think.

Focus your attention to your breathe. Let your thoughts do their own thing. The rest will happen on it's own. You may not see the 'point' or benefit of it at first, but I strongly encourage you to continue. You may not notice the benefits immediately, but they're happening. Perhaps meditating during your psychedelic experience will allow you to to gouge out some of the benefits of meditation.
I wish you great luck.

Everything 404 said, except I recommend focusing on the third eye instead of your breathing
Either way this is the tip of the iceberg...
Good book for starting out: "Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" I'm not Buddhist, but Sogyal writes with clarity.

Doing anything that requires concentration while I'm tripping is iffy. Meditation is practically impossible for me in that state the times I've tried, though I can manage it on the come down if that's the mood I'm in. I find it easier to meditate sober.

I'm no expert or anything but when I do it I just sit Indian-style, close my eyes, focus on the sensation of air entering and exiting my lungs through my nose, and just let my thoughts wander wherever they please.. This is referred to as mindfulness meditation and the idea is to notice when your thoughts are meandering and bring them back into focus, there are multiple ways to do this but I do it by focusing on my breath
I don't do it often enough to be honest but regardless of that I've notoced when I put in like at least 20 minutes of meditation I always feel more relaxed and serene afterwards, it definitely relieves a lot of inner stress
It takes a lot of discipline to develop a routine with it though IME, for me it was easier some days than others.. some days I would find it easy to silence my mind and other days it would be really restless and difficult to calm down.. That's part of what makes it tough for me to get into a regular routine with it, it's not always easy and it can be rather frustrating when ur mind just doesn't wanna slow down, but that's the catch-22 of it, the more frustrated you are the more difficult it becomes to control your thoughts
It takes a ton of practice to really get good at doing it but it's very much worth the effort

It may get difficult through the experience to "switch off". My mind would wonder too much.

That gets easier the more you do it.

I find a mala enormously helpful. Its a Hindu prayer rosary/necklace with 108 beads on it. You hold one bead at a time between your first and third finger and for each bead you either chant a mantra or take a silent inhalation and exhalation.
You can use the Mantra OM/AUM.
