Can You Recommend A Good Adhesive For A Mobile Home Drywall Patch?

I need to fix a small hole in the ceiling of my grandmother's mobile home rental.
I know a bit about how custom drywall is done in normal homes but everything is different in this situation. The only side where there is anything solid to nail (or screw) to has a plastic strip on the seam that is glued in place so there is no way I can nail the drywall there. Glue will make this side solid and that appears to be how it was done in the first place. I can't find any nails or screws. There is also a lip on another side that may be able to be used used for structure over the wall.
As it is so small and on the ceiling I want to just use the structural integrity of the other two sides of the drywall to hold it up.
Can you recommend an adhesive for a quick and dirty fix?
It doesn't have to be pretty. I don't think I could ever match the texture coat. It is like nothing I've ever seen before. I bet it was sprayed on by a machine with the sheets going down a conveyor belt.

Can you post a picture of the hole?
There's several things you could do. Spackle like Reposado says. You can also use spray foam and cut it flat after it sets. You can screw pieces of wood above the good pieces of ceiling to make a "nailer" and screw a sheetrock patch onto that. Lot's of options. If you post a pic I could tell you for sure.

Thanks, it is far to big for just spackle or foam filler, about 15" x 12." There is only one side that anything can be screwed to so it won't be solid enough for nailing in the patch.
I'm going to cut a thin piece of plywood to screw in on that side and it will sit on top of the wall on another side for decent strength. Then I'm going to use this immediate sticking Loctite adhesive I found at Lowes to glue a piece of drywall to it. It will work fine as long as some idiot doesn't try to hang anything form the ceiling there!

Did your fix work?
I have repaired holes in drywall before by mounting wooden bracing behind the hole. Paint stirrers work great. I just mount the paint stirrers in place with drywall screws then mount a piece of drywall into the hole and then smooth everything out with wall joint compound. After you sand it all down you can texture and paint.

Thanks for asking, it isn't the prettiest drywall patch in history but it is in an old, non-standard construction, manufactured home. It won't come down anytime soon!
I didn't even bother trying to match the texture coat. I used to be an assistant to a drywall guy. His business name was "Perfect Patch Drywall" with good reason. I kind of doubt even that dude could've matched this coating.
To me it looks like the sheets were sprayed by a machine going down a conveyor belt and then hung. It wasn't popcorn, or knock down, or orange peel...I have no idea what to even call it

The main thing is you got it done. How many people stop and stare at a 12 inch section on the ceiling anyway right? Those old mobile homes can be weird I've heard. Even on older detached homes it can be difficult to match the texture because there's usually numerous coats of paint on the walls that blur away a lot of the texture's detail.
