Cap mutations 1

Hi so ive grown psilocybe cubensis b+ quite sucessfully but recently some caps started to grow wavy almost like psilocybe cyanenses. Im curios to know if this is a mutation or not and if any one else has experienced this. The two pins on the right turned wavy. They were picked right as the stipe broke.

it's not. it's just a really mature. after the veil breaks and the caps open up, they can start to get wavy.

It's pretty normal. Well within the phenotype. I would be more concerned about that pinset. That tray does not look happy.

Cool. Im glad its fine. Im surprised it was just really mature because it went from pin to mature in one day and night. The tray is my first attempt at a bulk substrate and ive only gotten like 7-9 full mushrooms out of it. Any advice to make it happier or should i start annother thread( and search existing ones).

The bulk substrate is probly just too wet (water in the bottom of tray is a pretty good sign ). I bet if i let it dry out a bit itl pin better.

I dont see ANY holes in that tub. Those puppies are probably drowning and aching for FAE. The waviness is not uncommon if they are left to grow after the veils break. we dont usually wait that long. If as you said it seemed to happen overnight there is most likely something else going on like not enough Air or too much or too little water, Bacteria etc. Follow the TEKs and you will be a very happy camper. You will see flushes like this one.Over 1000G wet on the first flush..

Good Luck

Or bacterial. Increase FAE and the problem will show itself or go away.
