You are correct Red, but one can let go of some self importance.
-------------------- "A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

By understanding nothing is superior to anything else. Nothing is inferior to anything else. Nothing is equal to anything else. Everything is, and that is all.

well, not getting involved in the question ("which is superior") for starters. it is a tangent issue, but if you activate it, it becomes a whole direction, and then you have an issue with it's own tangents iykwim
many cases of letting go are much more efficiently viewed prior to origination. i.e. if you don't feed the flame it will not heat up. and you wont need to "let it go".

Honestly if you just do what you've always been doing you'll become enlightened.
Enlightenment is the height of impossibility, simply one chooses everything but enlightenment by choosing anything at all.

i dont know i havent done it.. there was once a website called ruthlesstruth and they argued that the self doesnt exist in the first place and is some kind of logical error.. i bought into them pretty hard and thought about it so hard i think i almost had an annuerism lol
I remember that website. Some good food for thought. The self is illogical... but so is life, existence and everything.

the simplest answer is that it already happens all the time
but because we are in the habit of assuming we are a solid self we tend to miss it
Whenever one is happy to see a friend (for example) and runs up and hugs them - or exclaims, something exuberant and spontaneous , at that moment self has been forgotten. Thinking and worrying and all self concerns have stopped. Self dies and is reborn constantly. So the question is not wrong, but misguided.
(Basic 101 zen .. or ... But fuck that, ... How ya doing bro?)
So zen, or awakened life, practice is to notice Self dying and reborn constantly. Perhaps some 'things' are better than we usually realize.

By realising it doesn't matter what other people think, focus on yourself and care about your needs and wants as long as you're not harming anyone else.
You're as important as anyone else.
