HEPA Question - 150 microns?

Hi Everyone - I'm looking at buying a HEPA listed on the internet. It says it's a Camfil Farr Megalam panel.
Minimum efficiency 99.99 WG .86 FPM 150 CFM 493 Micron 150
Why is the micron number so high? Shouldn't it be more like .3? I'm confused. If anyone can explain this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I've been confused by this too. Far as I can tell the only number you need to worry about is the 99.99% but hopefully somebody comes along to clarify.

This filter is the standard filter that people seem to go with: 24x24x5.8 Filter info: HEPA-SEP Model STD 242405PEADC50 584 @ 1.0" max. w.G. Pressure Drop DOP .010max 99.99% Efficient .3 micron

yea 99.999 at 150 micron isn't shit. I believe .5 micron is as big as you want to go.

OK, thanks. I'll keep looking. Might have to go with Funji so at least I know I'm getting the right thing.
I still don't understand why there is such a big difference in the micron numbers between this HEPA and all the other HEPAs I looked at.

This is the filter suggested by gr0wer when he built his flow hood.

Im currently debating whether to buy one now as there's 3 left.

Yes - I saw that, thanks. The thing about that one is the WG is .45. Isn't that too low? I thought the minimum acceptable WG is .86. I was under the impression that a filter with a low WG would not have enough resistance and the air would be coming through the filter too fast. It wouldn't pass the Bic lighter test as the flame would be blown out. Am I wrong? Thanks

I dunno. Hopefully Gr0wer will chime in again. I think he's still using the same filter and it's the one in his videos.

People overthink the whole hepa setup, close is good enough. With a pre filter your around .8. One of my hoods flows 250ft/min and one 120. Id much rather work in front of my 250 ft/min because it feels much nicer to have a breeze cool me down.

So the resistance value of .8 to 1 you're aiming for is the combined resistance of the HEPA and the prefilter. Of course - it makes sense and I should have figured that out on my own. That's very helpful, thanks.
