Getting lowballed (trades)

So I saw this cool distortion pedal earlier on craigslist, around 220$ new and the asking price was 190~. So I message asking if they will trade.
I offer a 300$ distortion pedal I bought used for 150$ which seemed pretty fair but I considered asking for a bit of $ or something extra since the 300$ pedal goes for 150-240$ used which is a bit more then the other pedal new. Well they messaged back saying they were interested but that as my pedal goes for 150 used and theirs apparently goes for 195$ so they wanted something extra from me
So I look it up and all I could find was an already sold used one on guitar center for 99$ (unknown condition) and a bass version for 120$ also on guitar center.
I was kind of excited to trade but that seems like a pretty big low ball to me
Anyways share your stories of getting low balled in various situations It seems pretty common...

It depends a lot on the seller and the circumstances.
Since I buy lots of equipment used, I let it go pretty damn cheap. If the guy bought it new, and isn't used to trading/buying second hand he may be unaware of typical prices on the second hand market.
I've found the best approach for Craigslist is to know what you wanna pay and stand firm. Be prepared to walk away. I'd message the seller and be honest with him. Tell him you can get it from guitar center for $99 and see what he says.

the other week some bitch at a festival said she'd pay "$6 max" for one of my shirts and when i sold 2 for $24 between her & her friend she protested to her friend to give me less money because "hers was only $6". dude was a homie and gave me $24 anyway. i usually sell em one for $12, two for $20 IRL, he hooked it up to be kewl. (prices on here are higher cuz shipping)

Of course I like man butts. I have one, and it is great. Someone recently described it as better looking that Ryan Gosling's face, which really isn't saying much IMHO, but I understood the sentiment.

Yeah I have learned that over the years as well. I did mention the 99$ guitar center one to him and haven't heard back like I said the page was down as it had sold already so it may have been in crap condition.

A lot of bigger stores are bad but video games are terrible, guitar center is another great example. They will even try to sell broken stuff
