Do you think our civilization is as advanced as it's ever been?

Do you think we are? Do you think civilization is at its peak? That we know more now than we ever have? Or do you think there are ancient secrets lost in time of a far more advanced civilization?

I don't even think they're lost, I think most people are just ignorant/stupid.
I'd say we've definitely had better millenniums.

We've yet to reach our climactic point as far as technological advancement goes. I believe we are destined for a technological singularity in our future, so long as we don't get wiped out by nuclear war or some form of natural cataclysm.
But at the same time I don't think we are at the same level of emotional intelligence as previous civilizations that inhabited the earth prior to materialism and greed. Through the advent of caste/social systems I think people became more alienated from one another and less empathic to the point where we are so far gone from our true nature.

I'm sure some stuff has been lost but yeah most people just don't want to listen.
Plasma also true but a lot of the technological advances of ancient societies are completely ignored. Ancient Egyptians had batteries that emitted small amounts of electrical charge, it's also theorized that the pyramids of Giza were meant to harness energy and not meant as tombs (which is the widely accepted theory). No mummies were ever found there but a supposed sarcophagus was, it's been speculated that a human wouldn't fit in it though...

Yeah, good point. I'm sure a decent amount has been lost but the major problems we deal with have many solutions that are more sustainable than what we currently use.

I heard they were supposed to be information repositories. The simple batteries provided lighting. Theres hieroglyphics depicting all sorts of knowledge deep within them.

Until we find proof of the contrary, we are at the highest we've ever been.

I'm all about sustainable living man, I just wish I had that knowledge of how it was once done. The societies it thrived in, the beliefs of those people, the way they treated each other, just everything...
Bodhi- tour guides are specifically instructed NOT to point out those types of hieroglyphs because it raises too many questions... There have been hieroglyphs that depict what looks like some sort of space craft also but there are very few in general in the pyramids of Giza. They have found "hidden" hieroglyphs but I haven't done much research on what was found, at one time though it was said that there were none in the pyramids.

I agree with you there. There definitely have been noteworthy technological innovations in historic civilizations that didn't survive beyond their own cultural demise. And it's a shame because imagine how much further along we would be today if these things survived the ages.
Ancient Anolog Computer
This "computer/astrolabe", for example, was lost in a Greek shipwreck 2000 years ago only to be recovered from the wreckage recently. I'm assuming this was one-of-a-kind because the next known resurgence of its kind reappeared 1000 years later. There is a 1000 year gap where we could've made so much more progress scientifically and technologically had it survived

I'm open to the idea of there being lost civilizations like Atlantis or something, that could have been highly advanced. Plato writes about them. Also you have the sections of the Baghavad Gita that talk about super weapons. Could be imagination or could be something more...
Anyways I think the important thing is that as far as this civilization goes, yes, we are at the highest point we've ever been, more or less.

There were ancient civilizations that were much more advanced both technologically and spiritually, but then they fucked it all up and put us where we've been now. We will surpass that.

it's not widely accepted other than in the 'fringe' of people claiming to be scientists

The majority of people still think it's a tomb... Why? I have no idea, it's also not highly decorated. Ask people around here and see what they say, every person I've ever asked still thinks it's a tomb.
