The Psilocybe Hollandia are by far the strongest truffles. Utopia wasn't particularly visual and the rest just don't compare. 15g of this stuff was Level 4 for me

I've seen a lot of people saying three only actually 3 real strains of truffles; mexicana, tampnesia and atlantis.
From the Shroomery Sclerotia FAQ
Quote:
What psilocin/psilocybin containing fungi species/strains produce sclerotia? Psilocybe galindoi, A.K.A. Atlanta #7 (ATL#7) Psilocybe mexicana, including strains "A", "B", and "Jalisco" Psilocybe tampanensis Psilocibe Atlantis: Note, at one point some P. galindoi has been sold as P. Atlantis, some confusion surrounds this species. This is not the same species as ATL#7.
As I understand it (I have to admit I'm not an expert on growing, genetics e.t.c so I'm just trying to put together info I've read), galindoi, mexicana, tampanensis and atlantis are different species, and each species can have different 'strains' (e.g mexicana A and B).
I don't think the real 'atlantis' has ever been put into commercial production; anything sold as Atlantis is more like to be ATL#7 which is a strain of galindoi...
So the people are right about there only being limited "real" types of truffle (sclerotia).
However, from what I gather, there can be some genetic variation which affects potency. Sclerotia produced directly from other sclerotia is basically a clone as I understand it, but they can also be "fruited" into actual mushrooms which (due to slight genetic variation when they reproduce) ultimately might lead to the ability to produce and clone more potent stones, or even the creation of new strains.
(For some idea of how they are grown see this thread - A Comprehensive Sclerotia Cultivation Guide - From Spore Print To Spore Prints (VER 1.0))
Another factor is that it seems to be the case that sclerotia get more potent if they are allowed to mature before they are harvested.
So the variations in potency are probably due to a combination of: 1) underlying species / strain / genetics 2) cultivation time
It is possible to get sclerotia being sold which is genuinely more potent than other stuff (whatever silly name they give it) but there can also be a lot of marketing bullshit involved, so that one product labelled "hollandia" may have nothing to do with another one, it might even be a different species!
In terms of your issues with tripping on this stuff, a 7.5g or 10g dose will often only be enough for threshold effects. Also throwing up before digesting the stuff doesn't help
Whatever the underlying reasons, there can be a lot of variability between different batches and different brands of commercial sclerotia. It's probably best to find a reliable source with reasonable potency, stick to it, and dose according to the potency of what you are eating (can't really discuss sources and I haven't tried online vendors anyway).
I used to try lots of different types and you would get a "meh" trip from 15g of one thing and an incredibly strong trip from 15g of something else.....then try another 15g of that same thing a few months later and get a completely different strength of trip. For that reason I tend to trip these days on the same stuff, where the potency is reasonable but not amazing, and just eat more of it.

I was thinking I would try eating 15 grams of the Atlantis before I go. Should I just eat them straight with orange juice or I was looking into making a tea as I've herd people say about that altho I was under the understanding heat kills the psilocybin and I don't want to get them and have them not work at it.
The heat from tea won't destroy the psilocybin but it might be difficult to make sure all the actives from the sclerotia end up in the tea. Personally I prefer to eat the stuff straight, with a small piece of dark chocolate afterwards to get rid of the taste. And do make sure you have an empty stomach. I usually try to eat a reasonably substantial lunch but then go without any dinner and dose four or five hours after my last meal - that way my stomach is reasonably empty but I don't feel tired & hungry from lack of food. But do whatever works for you, here are a couple of relevant threads/posts on sclerotia tea:
Eating Atlantis Truffles - nausea & making tea
M11 - making truffle tea

Also I've read of people saying you can freeze the tea so can someone explain this to me as well as I was thinking I might order the Utopias as well and make tea with it also and freeze it to try in a few weeks or a month or so after.
Suggestions on freezing sclerotia tea
