Lobster

NE Wisconsin- looking for the end of the chanterelles in hardwood forest- saw many of these growing in the leaf litter-  I assume lobsters- is this correct?

They looked a little manky

Are these edible in the shape they are in?

If these are lobsters, what is the original mushroom?  (The folds look like chanterelle, but I didn't think that chanterelles turned to lobsters)

Hypomyces lactifluorum parasitizes Russula and Lactifluus in North America,

they are lobsters and I agree with relic, they are in good shape. nice find.
