Many thanks to all those that maintain and contribute to this site!
Any feedback or suggestions on my set up and the health of my cakes will be greatly appreciated.
------------------------------------------------------------------- *These are pics from day 10 after dunking and rolling*
First and only cake with a pin so far
Same cake, other side. Just bruising or possible contam?
Is the spiky looking myc on the bottom right normal or a sign of something gone awry? (i.e. on the first cake shown below)

27 Watt 6500K bulb in this lamp.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes:
*Inoculated with a PES Amazonian MS syringe from a shroomery vendor*
*SGFC temps have exceeded ideal 75-80F fruiting temps*
-Temps reached 83-84F for a few hours at time during days 1-6. -Temps through days 7-10 have been at that level or higher for extended periods during the day. -Day 8 temps reached 88F deg for an hour or two . -To avoid the extra few degrees of heat that my 6500k bulb puts off, I move the SGFC from my desk (as pictured) to the kitchen during the hottest parts of the day where it gets indirect sunlight. -I live in a second floor apt that gets hot during the day and unfortunately don't have $$ for an AC unit.
*I added an extra line of holes to two walls of the SFGC* - I know, I know. Classic noob party foul. I didn't follow the tek to T. - I drilled these about an inch above the perlite because I had so much less space between the surface of the perlite and the lid of the SGFC than other SGFC pics I'd seen. -Should I tape them up?
*Misting until glistening*
-Probably 4-5 time/day. Usually one heavier mist in the morning and just a few sprays per cake each time after to keep them glistening. -I didn't read the Misted Cake Project post until day 3 so the cakes may have been under misted days 1-2.
*Fanning after each mist*
-Plus maybe twice more in addition throughout the day
*Birthed cakes about 7 days after full colonization*
Thanks for Reading!

Just bruising. There are different kinds of mycelium and none of them are bad. Don't have to use so much perlite, but it is inexpensive. I think humidity is a lot more important than temperature. Do you have a hydrometer? I recently bought a pack of 4 for less than $5 online. They're manual and measure temp humidity. Humidity will affect fruiting quality and quantity, where temperatures will really only change the growth rate. This is assuming the terrarium is roughly in the optimal range, not >110 degrees.

Mold mycelium is bad. . .
Pleurotus mycelium in a cube grow is bad. . .
Schizophylum commune is bad. . .
